So I just bought my first 1911. I am a fan of the parkerized guns and all of the add ons with a factory gun so I bought a Rock Island fs tactical. I hate the factory wood sanding blocks so I will be replacing them. What grips do you guys like/use and why? Pics are a plus! Not just black guns, I have an imagination!
Thanks Boomer. I have a 'Wild Bunch' Bandalero Style cross-draw rig ordered with lettering to match the "JEFE" grips.
I'll post a photo when I get it . The wood on those 'Jefe' grips is hard-Maple and feels great in the hand.
Those aftermarket grips on the Turkish 1911 are all over Ebay for $30.00 to $36.00, Amazon has them also for about the same price with free shipping.
Here's a couple more alternative grips. Not my most favored...
Those Raasco grips are really good looking grips too Doug. Do you guys really prefer the finger grips? I assume they give you a more "controlled" feel.
Its a more comfortable grip - to me at least - I enjoyed shooting it stock, I picked up the Pearce due to a suggestion on this forum and I love them. They fit my hand well and are rubber so you can get a nice grip on the pistol.
I plan on getting more 1911s in the future and I will get the Pearce to go with them. They are not too expensive, give them a try.
I am really liking the raasco grips. I thought I was leaning toward black grips, but the natural wood grips are really nice looking.
