Don't appreciate being burned

Ordered a Desantis Intruder from Midway USA and found it on another site for $12.00 less. I realize companies are in business to make money but I won't be buying from Midway again if I can help it. To pay 20% more for an item that retails for $60.00 is too big of a jump. I accept the fact that I am responsible for this purchase but I sure won't be making the same mistake again. So be it.

Internet pricing is sometimes tough. You think you're getting a deal, then find out shipping charges are ridiculous. Or, be like me today and go to buy something from Summit Racing advertised with "FREE Shipping" only to find out in checkout that a $12 handling fee is added. (I didn't order from there).

You could always contact Midway and ask for a price match. They've always been good to me, and the worst they could say is No.

I just sent "Larry" an e-mail to request the price reduction to match the other store. I don't like being nasty but being burned is not acceptable. There are too many places to purchase like items and I like to support stores that take good care of me through the process, same time I refuse to put up with this kind of crap. Not angry just disappointed.

Midway got me awhile back. I ordered some BX25 mags that were on B/O. I finally got them. A very short time later they ran them on sale and they wouldn't give me the sale price. It was less than 30 days but they said they only do it for something like 3 days if I remember right. So if you had it more then 3 days and they run it on sale tough luck.

I've orderred a lot of things from Midway over the years and have had nothing but good experiences with them. Example, I ordered a set of Lee dies from them and when I received them it had the wrong sizing die in the kit. Midway was in no way at fault for this, it was clearly an error on Lee's part. I figured what the heck, I'll call Midway and see what they say. Their customer service rep sent out a RCBS sizing die that day and said don't worry about returning the Lee die. Completly more than I was expecting from them. Been a loyal customer ever since.

Sorry to hear that, cedi. Yeah, I ordered a GM barrel for my 10/22 and a stock from another online site whereas Midway was much higher on; some things are just better priced than others. Hopefully it's rectified. Working in sales myself, I have no issues w/ customers asking for a better price/matching a competitor. And I will tell you being in a position to control prices, I help those who can provided solid justification. Yours is. I hope it won't deter you from future purchases from them, bud. They have the best shipping rates available and solid, friendly customer service.

I just ordered a scope from Midway because a more highly recommended source was doing a bait-and-switch (the advertised price was one thing and my shopping cart displayed about 15% higher price. I will continue to use Midway because I think they are fair and try to be competitive.

I've found MidwayUSA to be very price competitive for the most part. In addition, they ship fast and have been very responsive regarding the couple of very minor issues that I've had with them over the years. Given that they stock thousands of items and don't have a "lowest price guarantee" program, it's not surprising that you may find some items elsewhere for a little less.

I myself have had great service from Midway and the prices have always been very competitive just wish they could do something about that whole shipping charges thing...lol

I think we have all been in the position of the OP, I certainly have.
I usually shop around pretty well but have still bought items that I have found less expensive later for one reason or another.

You buy something because you think it's a FAIR price then complain when you see it cheaper somewhere else and then say you got "burned".... don't understand your logic here. Someone else s complaining about buying an item then it goes on sale later and now they want the sale price!?!?!? All I can say is what's wrong with you people? Companies are in business to make a profit. Do your research and live with your choice. Don't get upset with a man making a living. Just my 2 cents. I wonder if I'll get banned for this?

My experience with MidwayUSA has been good overall. Decent prices and polite CS. I ran into a couple of problems with their mailing me multiple reminders about setting up an online account. I asked them to expunge my email address from their database. They then (or had already) passed my email along to bizrate who has a less than stellar 'Google reputation'

I like Midway. Been trading with them since they started business. Got some handgun brass with a MIDWAY headstamp. All that being said; Midway aint necessarily the cheapest price. They are the most reliable with the best selection. They have no competition when it comes to in-stock selection and delivery.

After I pull the trigger on a purchase I try like hell not to look around at pricing. Murphy's law...you'll always find a better deal after your money is spent.

Then there of course is the guy who "always" gets the best deal and gas mileage...so I empathize with you- at least you are honest.

I wouldn't have felt burned, just that I hadn't done my research. I do online research even on things I buy local, it has saved me enough to smile about.

I have had one gripe with Midway, on my last order. They are 800 miles away, and the order took 14 days to arrive. I had ordered it on a Friday morning, and somehow they didn't get it out. They don't ship USPS on weekends, and there was a Monday holiday, so it shipped Tuesday. It laid at Midway for four days. Stayed at their Post Office another day. Then the USPS took another nine days, somehow. Partially the P.O.'s fault, but I have avoided any Midway orders since.

Please, do not blame it on Midway, when you decided not to look for the best price.

You cannot expect that every merchant you select will magically offer you the best price in the universe. This is the nature of the internet shopping; chances are that somebody will offer the same item for less for reasons we'll never know, like maybe getting rid of the inventory, offering a "teaser", or simply a bait-and-switch trick.

If you find that Midway is consistently higher priced than other places, by all means vote with your feet. But to make your decision and feel upset based on just one item is, I think, overreacting.

BTW, I have shopped at Midway repeatedly with good results, even though I do not like them charging you another S&H for BO items. That's their policy. My policy with them is not to order items that are on BO.
