I use an HP laptop bag...all padded, I can carry three handguns plus ammo as well as ears and eyes and some minor tools. Multiple pockets all padded. I can walk around with this thing anywhere and everyone thinks its a computer.

For pistols, I have used a range bag from WalMart. It's around $40-45 the last time I purchased one (4 years ago). The wear pretty good.

For my 6" revolvers, a Midway range bag. Midway has 2 sizes and I use the larger one for my revolvers. With the insert and cases. Comes to $70-80. It will hold more than I can lift comfortably. The insert comes out of the main bag; the 2 cases completely cover my revolvers.

Midway offers a "normal" sized bag and I will get it when my WallyWorld bag dies. The Midway bags come in different colors (black, grey, brown) and the insert and cases can be ordered separately. I use the one large range bag and different color cases for different calibers. It works out well for me.

The range that I shoot at requires the firearm to be in its case at all times until I'm on the firing line so the slim cases are very welcome.

I have went back to using my large Redhead blind bag. It holds tons of ammo, hard bottom, and I can put pistols in there inside a rug. I carry 4 pistols in a hard side gun case from flambeau.

I use the Midway Competition range bag. It comes with a smaller ammo bag, brass bag, and 2 pistol cases.

I use this GPS backpack. I love it. The handgun storage in the bottom is fantastic.

If you live near a Harbor Freight, go there and look at their various tool bags. They make great range bags! I just bought one there the other day that has 25 different pockets, and it was 14 dollars

I bought it on sale about five years ago, and it's still holding up well. Keep in mind that I often go to an outdoor range that is about a 30 minute drive for me. It's out in the middle of nowhere. So, I'll have some light tools and things I normally would not bring to an indoor range that's closer to me. The bigger bag just makes it easier to carry everything all in one.
^^^I use this one too. The only problem I have is that it is a large bag so I tend to load everything I have into it that it's hard to carry. Old age is a [email protected]!
