Who likes Hogue wood grips:)

I've been off and on with Hogue woods, I love the Lett style grips but recently took the Letts off these two GP's and put sets of Hogue wood grips on that I've had for a couple years now.

They feel great but they're still growing on me, I love the control and handling of rubber but deep down inside there's a part of me that believes a quality revolver should have a nice set of woods on it.

I fired 12 .38's through the stainless GP with the rosewood laminate Hogues, my hand had to "re learn " the feel of wood.....I've done so much shooting with Pachmayr and Lett grips I'm used to my hand sticking to the grip, not feeling "slippery".

I carried this gun in an IWB holster to test it out and like I remember from other wood grip revolvers, it didn't grab my shirt.

I'll have to really get out and shoot these guns to see if I'll stay with the wood, especially with .357's.

It's strange the Hogues feel perfect on my 4" half lug .357 but the stainless 4" in the pic feels a bit front heavy with those grips. It feels like all the weight is on my middle finger. Those few ounces up front make a huge difference:)

I will leave the Hogues on the half lug, they look and feel great but I may go back to Letts for the stainless 4". I will probably go with some 41 Magnum made grips.

While searching back thru my old posts, searching for some much needed info, I noticed that a lot of my old Pictures weren't there anymore
You could see where they were referenced, but nothing else to say they were ever there (not even a fuzzy POSbucket Pic) .... hmmm
Well, I'm quite proud of a few things I’ve put together, so I'm going thru and reposting a few Pics, because (oddly enough) this site doesn't allow you to edit your older posts
I don't know, but doesn't adding another Reply to a Thread add to your Bandwidth Usage, way more than a Post Edit would ?
Just saying ! ! !

I try to keep the wood on my better S&W's in good condition and it's long been a practice of mine to replace the stock grips with Hogue's. The original grip goes back in the box.
I've loved Hogue grips for look and feel, but not any more.
I've developed Dupuytren's disease and both of my little fingers are being bent and my fingers don't spread like they used to.
While I favored the Hogue grips with finger grooves I can no longer comfortably use them. The majority of Hogue's have the finger grooves so...
My hope is that they will start making more grips like the JM's, without grooves.
I love the aluminum panels.

I also like wood grips but I detest the the finger grooves on most Hogues (both wood and rubber). I've Dremeled them off a couple of grips but prefer to buy them in final form.

My favorite grip is the Jerry Miculek signature revolver grip. These are made by Hogue but free of any finger grooves. Unfortunately they are only made for S&W K,L and N-frames. My 686 wears them.

The best (IMHO) wood grip for the GP is the ones that come OEM on the Match Champion. Also made by Hogue and also finger groove free.
