Ruger 77 MK II .223: Magazine Capacity 4 RDS

I have a used Ruger 77 MK II .223 caliber that is a nice rifle and shoot pretty good imo. The Ruger site list capacity as 5 rounds, but I can only get four into my magazine. I suppose I could hold a fifth rounds a close the action.

When I first got this rifle iirc Midway had a follower listed for the 77 that changed it to 5 rounds. No longer listed.

I'd like to have a 5 round magazine, thoughts.

Buy a Mini-14. You can get 20 & 30-round mags.

Four plus one in the chamber equals five?

Doesn't feed. Has to feed from the magazine.

The reason I posted here is I was wondering if someone might have a tip, like maybe shortening the legs on the follower.

I just made up 5 dummy rounds and if you hold round number 5 it will not feed as there is nothing to guide the front of the cartridge, and the rim has to slip in under the extractor.

If my Ruger Model 77 MK II Bolt Action rifle had a removable magazine, maybe I could do that.

Maybe I should have posted this in the Bolt Action Rifle Forum.
