r&r blackhawk front sight

I got a screamin' deal on a flattop 44 special bisley because the previous owner decided he needed a sknny front sight blade and that he could do the job with his grinder. Ruger wants far too much to resolder and reblue.

The barrel is 4 5/8ths. What do you think?

I have seen replacement Ruger front sights that are attached with a screw. Exactly where escapes me just now, but that might be an option. Check with Brownells.

Found a precision welder who specializes in micro-welding who wants to restore the front sight blade as a personal project. Wants to do it for free. Monday's the day! I'll try to post pix.

It's now August 15th , OP hasn't been back .

That welding deal..."He wants to do it for free" kind of sounded like it was just too good to be true.

I wonder what happened ?

Ruger would probably replace thee barrel from the Big Box of Barrels. They would also check out the gun for any other issues. I find their prices reasonable.
