Over the years my answer to this question has probably changed quite a few times. In my youth, it would have been a 10/22 without question.

By the time I hit my 30s, I'm pretty sure it would have been a 4" GP100.

Now that I'm almost 50, I think it would be a Sig P320c.

I like the idea of carrying a carbine, but I just don't see how it could be practical.

Right now I have a big *** bear, that does not give a rip about humans, investigating my house multiple times in the night and tearing up stuff on the deck.

I’ve said Glock 19 many times in the past, but right now my Smith 29 or an M1A loaded for bear, no pun intended.

I'm a light scale prepper of sorts and thought of this often. If its handguns only, my G21 in .45acp. I have 13 round mags for it and you just cant beat the power of .45 acp in my opinion. I feel like that would keep me safe from threats and could put food in my stomach if need be. Now I would be desperately wanting my Ruger PCC 9! That rifle outside of this discussion would be my hands down choice if I had a choice of all my guns and could only select one. That PCC9 would be able to do it all with no problems!

Dang. I don't get to play. I don't live in town so no need to "bug out". I'm already out.

I would choose my HK VP9. it's accurate, reliable, and has a hi capacity magazine. Also, if it becomes necessary to forage for ammo, 9mm will be the easiest to come by due to it's popularity.

Maybe I can.
I 'bug out' every week for work. Could be gone for a couple of days to a couple of weeks.
Beretta PX4 9mm comes with me.
