A couple of Big Loops

I came across these today when I was root in’ around in the safe. The one on the left is a Rossi 92, on the right is a Winchester 94. Near as I can figure I bought them both in ‘94, I was considering getting into “Cowboy Shooting “ and life happened. I haven’t shot either one yet, at this point I doubt I will. My one buddy is hot for the Winchester but $950 is more than he’s willing to pay, that and my Son told me it’s not for sale, lol. I guess my Boy wants it.......

Nice pair. I particularly like the dark wood on the Rossi. I understand about your son. My grandsons are getting to the age where they are starting to get interested in what's in Grandpa's safe. They're already starting to put there 'dibs' on stuff and I ain't no where near going any where any time soon.

Thanks Bonk, the Rossi was actually darker when I first got it and I wasn’t pleased with it. The only reason I have two is because I mentioned it to the wife, bought the Rossi in November and the Winchester was under the tree on the 25th of December. You’d be surprised what Hoppe’s #9 will do to a stock, lol.

My Son, at 27, actually gets its though. I own a boatload of guns and most don’t fit into our style of shooting, but they’re beautiful firearms. His words, “ That’s a cool looking Pops, but it ain’t worth crap at 500yds.” Thank God he gets it and wants to keep all of them.

I started Cowboy Action shooting 20+ years ago, and thought that the 94 Winchester would be the end all rifle. Along with my Vaqueros all in 357 I had thousands of 38 brass, that is what I was going to shoot. Soon my 94 was broken, a call to Winchester and a shipping label and about 2 weeks it was back with a caution not to use 38's in it. Thankfully Midway sold and delivered more brass.

I still use the Vaqueros, but the 94 has long been retired and a 73 now takes it's place.

Those large loop rifles sure have a "Kool" factor going for them, but actually not very practical. I would hang on to them just because they are Kool.

No plans on parting with them Wrangler Rich, it’s funny how when you pull them out for someone the conversation automatically goes to Chuck Conners.......go figure.

Always nice to see a lever action. Seeing your pair was even nicer.
