TULSA, OK GUN SHOW, Oct. 20 & 21, 2007

TULSA, OK Gun Show, Expo Square (Tulsa Fairgrounds).

I hope some members of this forum can make it to the show. It would be a great place to meet each other and after the show go to the rib house there and have fun! I can't remember where the rib house is. I get lost every time. I have been there four times. Maybe one of you can give us good directions! Please make posts if you plan to attend or hope to attend. Make motel reservations now! Thanks much! Hope to see a lot of you there!

Always heard this is the biggest and best there is. Maybe i can talk the wife into a vacation bout that time.
And bring local FFL copies with me in case something needs to be shipped back.

ddd482
depends on your state laws. Handguns a definate "no" on cash and carry for an out of state resident unless you are an ffl. Otherwise you can purchase but it would have to be shipped to an ffl in your state for you to pick up there. Long guns depends on your state laws and if comparable to OK laws.
I know nothing of OK laws and if they would be compatable for Texas but will check before i go.
This assuming it is a gun show like here in Texas.
Luv traditional black powder guns as it avoids this mess.

deputy and ddd482...the Wannamacher Tulsa show IS a bona-fide gun show. 3,700 tables under one roof...I believe about 11 acres. Non licensed individuals 18 or older can buy long guns (rifles and shotguns), as long as where the out-of-state person lives permits it. Handguns can only be purchased and taken out of the show by OK residents, 21 or older with whatever OK requires for purchase. Here in South Dakota, we have concealed handgun permits that double as a purchase permit, waiving any waiting period. I do not know what OK has.

Handguns could be shipped to your FFL in your state. The OK dealer would keep the gun until he receives the FFL from your dealer. If the dealer set up in Tulsa is NOT an OK dealer, he cannot release ANY firearms, long guns OR handguns AT THE SHOW. He MUST go back to HIS state where he is licensed and then ship the long gun or handgun to your FFL in your state.

I do not EVER give copies of my FFL to anyone, except another FFL. If one was an "agent" of the FFL, it could be permitted, with a LETTER stating that the carrier of the FFL was representing the gun shop. I will not do that.

Many of those who set up at Tulsa are dealer names you see and perhaps already do business with that you may recognize in Gun List. I have had guns shipped to me by dealers set up in Tulsa to be transferred to SD residents. Make arrangements ahead of time with your FFL. Then you know for sure WHO the dealer will be that the guns will be shipped to. Some dealers will NOT do transfers because of firearms liability in the event that the shipping dealer has NO insurance.

For example... if you bought a handgun or long gun at Tulsa, and had it shipped to your FFL and then you go out and fire the first round, and it takes out your right eye, GUESS WHO your attorney is going to sue? The Tulsa dealer? NO...the dealer who accepted the transfer for YOU. The dealer who transferred the gun to you on the 4473 that you completed is the person who technically SOLD you the gun, NOT the shipping dealer from Tulsa. The last one to touch the gun was YOUR FFL. He "sold" it to you.

Make SURE the selling dealer in Tulsa has firearms liability insurance! Then your FFL maybe can go back on HIS liability insurance, should there be a problem. It can be a nightmare. I pay a $2,200 firearms liability insurance premium every July 1st for the priviledge of selling my customers a gun. The cost is determined on the quality and quantity of guns I sell each year. I say that because with my carrier, I am NOT permitted to sell pot metal guns, new or used, like the old Jennings pistols. A shop that is fairly large and has a shooting range can easily pay $12,000 a year in firearms liability insurance premiums.

Unlicensed OK residents setting up at the Tulsa show cannot buy a gun from a resident of ANOTHER state AND they cannot sell a gun to a resident of ANOTHER state...only to another OK resident, OR to a licensed dealer. Period.

A non licensed resident of ANOTHER state set up at the Tulsa show can only sell a gun to a licensed dealer. Period.

Problems with dealers or pawn shops that do NOT have firearms liability insurance and also with private individuals who have no insurance because they are not a dealer can result in lawsuits with attorneys going after deep or not-so-deep pockets or garnishments of wages to pay for injuries that may have occured. Many unlicensed individuals like to twist the laws to suit themselves and their greed when they set up at gun shows. I wish that ALL those set up at gun shows were licensed dealers ONLY, and with proper liability insurance, other than those dealing in antique firearms, of course.

This is a real Gunshow!! You never know what you will find, lots and lots of great guns. A lot of Ruger folks set up there in the first four or five rows on the lower level. Most dealers will ship guns to an FFL back home if you want to buy one, I do it all the time. I set up in row 4LA....4th row on the lower level front of the building end cap. Hope you come to see me, I collect old model Rugers and have a bunch of good Rugers to sell. Hope to see 'ya there, Bill Hamm

Ron & I kicked this around a little last weekend. If some of us forum members were to attend this gun show in Tulsa, we could set a time & place to meet. Kinda' get to know the people we visit with here & have a little fun at the same time. While Tulsa is a large city with plenty of Hotel's available, it would be wise to start making arrangements now. It takes me about 2hrs to drive to Tulsa, so I do plan on being there. I hope some you can make it also.
See Ya'

I went last year for the first time. What an experience. There are guns, guns and more guns. Great Ruger display's of some of the rarest guns. Highly recommend going. I'm going again this year. Hope to see you there.
