Hi gang. Just in case you don't know yet, the ISP has started to allow anybody who has their CC classes done, FOID card, and a state digital ID to begin to submit their application now. The ISP website says it is only for instructors at this time, but it will allow you to put everything up there and even give you a license number, it just will not take your money yet. Jan 5th for that trigger point.

Since I'm on a phone I can't drag a link on here, but the ISP website is pretty easy.

Have fun all, Jan 5th is coming!!!!!

with your cpl would you be able to drive, for example while in your your car downtown rush street ,with a loaded pistol in your waistband?

just wondered if there will be restricted zones or is it statewide access

Im from a free state, just wondering how restricted you will be in IL

congrats on the cpl going this far!

I moved to Iowa and got my CWP. As far as I can tell, if you have a valid out of state permit you can carry anywhere in Ill Annoy as long as you are in your vehicle. If you get out, it must be locked in a case or the vehicle itself must be locked. I wouldn't push my luck in Cook County, though. Go to the ISP website and look at Public Act 092-63. (IIRC)

If anybody gets a link to it, I'd love to see it. I was tied up this morning and missed it too.

Awesome Ed. I just got confirmation that those of us with livescan prints done and who have everything else will get to pull that payment trigger on Thrusday. I could not get them nailed down about a timeframe when things will be live, only "sometime".

I got your PM Ed and thanks, I'll reply when I get home tonight.

I already setup my Digital ID and I'm getting my "prints" done tomorrow. I guess I'll plan to fill out the on-line application on Wednesday ...

Is there any trick to "saving" it that I need to be aware of???

#17 ·
I did mine and it automatically saved as you go. im not doing the fingerprints so I guess I have to wait 3 more days to complete my application. No biggie, I figure as screwd up as Illinois is there will be applicants with e prints just as likely to get there permits late as those without.

There is a red save button on the lower left side where you enter your data. Pressing that does not appear to do anything, but it does work.

I'd go ahead and go as far as it will allow you (90%) and then you can log back on and update that entire app. You find that you'll be forced to re-enter your email and one other item, but I'd recheck everything again. Try not to speed past the place where you'll input your TCN number - third screen, I think.

Breaking News - sometime in the next 24 hours the ISP online application will let folks who have their finger prints done and everything uploaded will be allowed to get past the 90% mark and pay the fee.

That's right folks, we are going to get to finish our applications. Just 90 more days to go.

As of 8:11AM Application complete! With a notice that the ISP has 90 days to send me my permit.

At least it seems I was in the first bunch because at 7am it did not work. Dang! I feel like a real, honest to goodness citizen!

For those outside IL, I don't know if you can fully understand but, this is a day we have been waiting 40+ years for and had just about given up on ever getting in my lifetime. WOW!

Larry - CONGRATS!!

I'm set to get my prints tomorrow and plan to get my application in before I go to bed tomorrow night!! I figure the $50 is worth it, even though I expect that they'll have a hard time keeping to the 90 day timeline, particularly at first! If nothing else, it should put me ahead of those that have to wait until Monday to submit their apps...

Mine stopped with my TCN not showing up in the system. I called Accurate Biometrics, the company that took my prints. They said it was transmitted to ISP on 12/31/13 at 15:18. I had them taken on Dec. 18. I wonder why so long to have them transmitted. I guess I will have to wait a little longer.

tomt - man, that's a shame! Some of the fingerprint companies report that the ISP surprised them by starting this now and they also claim that they can only upload so many per hour. "All I can say is that excuses are like butts. Everybody has one and they all stink."

Since yours was already uploaded, perhaps it's in the ISP system someplace and will show up before long.

I hope so.

Keep trying it. I'm hearing reports of sporadic access. Those prints from Accurate Biometrics are showing up in small batches. Patience ( not easy) is what it will take.

Speaking of pic's, I need to have my daughter or wife take one with their phone and email it to me...

Got my Livescan prints at 3PM this afternoon at Metro Detective Agency, LLC in DeKalb (they even snapped a photo with my phone so it's against the same background as the one they submit with the prints) and then ran some errands, came home, made dinner (ok, threw it in the oven to heat up), poured a beverage, enjoyed it & my dinner and sat down 5 mintues ago to complete my application & Success!!

Application Status: Under Review

Thanks to Dan @ Metro for making it quick & easy to shave 30 days off my wait!!

Alright, got past the TCN/Fingerprint problem today and paid the fee at 18:08. Now the wait.

My Lic # will be 54XX. I filled out my app the same time the instructors were allowed. Got stopped at 90% then but everything I entered was saved. ISP must have given out a LIC number then. I thought it would be in the 100,000 range.

...My Lic # will be 54XX. ....
..... My license number is listed as 55**....
I hadn't actually gone in and looked at the details of my "application" after I submitted it; looks like my license # will be 10,0##...

As tomt suggested, it must be assigned when you initially start and save the application .....

I logged on to the isp sight around 2am, couldn't wait till morning when I saw the applications(no finger prints) were already being accepted, apparently from right after midnight. Awsome!, I was already at the 90% for a few weeks now so the process to finish took only a few mins, paid and now officially waiting for my permit. #55XX Woohoo!

my hope is they will not drag it out longer than it takes to process the applications. many who are applying are like me, have had foids for many years, are not felons and theres no good reasons those applications should be held up any longer than to get them processed.

Geez Ed, I hope your right. I see one of the members said his license number was over 10,000 and I wondered how the Il State Police are going about reviewing our applications. With such a pent up demand do you suppose they have subcontractors going over them? Sort of weed out the border line applicants from the folks that have no records of any consequence? Guess we we'll see hopefully sooner rather than later...

#46 ·
It seems that the ISP has reserved permit #5000 and down for instructors. I've heard of one guy who has a 19,000 number as of midnight last. I've been tied up today and are just now getting caught up on mail but if I hear anything, I'll post right away.

Don't anybody start looking for at least 30 days. The ISP is going to take their time.

Maybe the ISP should make a press release to the effect that the state of Il has just processed and allowed 20,000 of it citizens to carry firearms at some point. Perhaps that would give the thugs something to consider when they want to rob you...The reality is many thieves are just cowards looking for an easy buck, not the smartest way to earn a living. JMO!
