CCW piece mainly because of familiarity. Muscle memory in tense situations.

I carry my CCW double-action revolver at home so I don't have to go look for it. Still, I voted shotgun, since that is what I have "staged" near bed.

What is your PRIMARY home/camp defense gun? Results here really sparked some interest on primary home vs. primary event platforms.
*This has been very interesting to follow and it sparked a good deal of talk here and other related threads. The question got many different responses.
*Primary home/camp defense gun? My wife and I have re-evaluated our requirements to include more training with our carbines and semi autos for home. Anything past that would be the AR platform for when things go really bad. Our carbines, SR9c and 9E all use the same magazines. This gives the path to the shot guns and AR for clearing property and other threats. Hopefully you never have to defend against any threat but these days it is important to be prepared.
*My point is that you can not forget to prepare, train and drill for everyone being on the same page. As I stated before you can have all the hardware you want, if nobody knows how to use it is useless.
*Times have changed and there are many firearms to choose from.

This was my primary home defense system .....until my neighbors complained. (Buncha whimps!)

Now I just use a couple of revolvers tucked away in the nightstands.

XDM 45 w/TLR-1. Gun just fits me like a glove. Through all kind of "action bay" drills with a variety of hand guns I shoot the XDM like a BOSS. Hope I never need it but it dose give me a warm cozy feeling being next to the bed.

Ruger P89 or some other auto pistol. I've considered a shotgun, but the ones I have are a bit long and bulky
