Who carries a "Mouse Gun" for CCW?

Lately I have really gotten into so-called "mouse guns" for CCW. When wearing a suit or for that matter jeans, I find it annoying to carry a larger pistol and I was noticing that I was making excuses to myself not to carry at all. Not good.

I picked up a gently used Beretta Jetfire (.25acp) and I have found that I can carry it under almost all conditions. Another favorite is the Beretta Tomcat (.32 acp). FWIW my usual carry piece is a Sig P238. Looking to pick up a Ruger LCP in the near future.

Anyone else out there carrying a "mouse gun" sometimes?

My two Berettas

When I ran my store in northern New Jersey I would occasionally cary a Colt Mustan Pocker Lite in 380. It was no bigger than those guns but had a 380 bullet. Hollow points were and are legally problematic in New Jersey. CCW is illegal in Nj unless you own the land a business is on. As such I had to be discrete in my firarm choice.

Iíve tried the mouse guns, including the LCP, and they are too small for me. Besides my lack of confidence in the .25 and .32 to be useful over five feet, except to a shot through an eye socket.

My LC380 is my minimum carry. My .40 Taurus is only marginally larger.

I really dig the Tomcat. I handled one at the most recent show. I want to reload for .32, as I shoot a bit of that in a family member's 1903 Hammerless.

Might be a tossup. Do I want a Hammerless or a Tomcat? I like that tip-up barrel on the Beretta.

I'm not too worried about .32 acp if I had to defend myself, since I'd likely carry the gun in my fishing vest. I now carry .38+p in a snub there...more potent but much larger. Either way, it's a belly gun.

Where I live (Florida), I am generally wearing light clothing or shorts with polo or t-shirt. I find that a mouse gun is the most concealable gun for me to carry. I have been using a Kahr P380 for years. Loaded with good ammo and well placed shots, I feel it is adequate.

My situation here in Southern California is similar. Shorts and light clothing often necessitate a smaller carry piece. The .32 in my opinion is adequate. One nice thing about the .32 is that it is incredibly well-mannered and easy to shoot. I love .380, but .32 has much less muzzle flip and is a very easy round to shoot accurately.

During the hot summer months and early fall wearing light clothing, I carry my S&W Bodyguard .380. During the cooler/colder months when I'm wearing a jacket, I carry my Rock Island 1911 in 9mm Para.

As others have said, you don't want to consider something so big that you leave it at home, and don't have anything, but myself, I don't want to rely on a .32 or even a .380.

Two years ago, my company had me working in Phoenix for a couple months, and I carried my Shield everywhere. Yes, it's a bit big to slip in my jeans pocket, but IWB carry with a shirt untucked it was concealable.

Comforting to have 8 rounds of .40 caliber 180 grain HST's, and two more 8 round mags on the opposite hip.
The PC model is every bit as accurate as my full-size .40, and it's even more controllable.

My mouse gun is a Sig P938 in 9MM. Carries easily in the pocket with 6+1 with the flush fit mag and a seven round extended in a cargo or rear pocket. Now I own a true mouse gun from the early 1980's, it's a Sterling in .22 LR. The P938 isn't much bigger than the Sterling.
