Can someone recommend a decent HP for my newly acquired 9? I have some Hornady for my Smith and not sure what the LC9 may prefer. I don't shoot often and want something reliable that will feed through it. Thank you and nice place you have here!... DM
PS...suggest a place online to order a second magazine?

I use Speer 124 gr Gold Dot in my LC9. They feed fine. However you need to shoot enough of them through your pistol to give you confidence that they are going to feed reliably every time you pull the trigger. As far as a source for magazines I would do an online search to see who has them in stock or will accept a backorder.

Welcome to the forum. I use Hornady critical defense. Also, you can find another mag at Basspro, Gander mountain, Cabelas, Midwayusa, just to name a few.

Mags available at Grabagun.com for $27 and shipping. Remember to fully load the mag and let it sit a few days.

I prefer Hornady Critical Defense for the LC9 as it has performed flawlessly. I prefer not to shoot +P .

Mine shoots everything HST 124+p 147 gr Gold Dot 124+P Golden Sabers 124+P Win.147
Reloads it shoots everything but I carry 147gr HST or 124+P Gold Dot.

One thing about magazines, I find the ones made in Italy are better than the ones made in the USA. I don't know if there is a mfg problem or if I just got a bad mag, but the USA mag scored from the release button and would not stay in the gun. I sent the gun to Ruger, they replaced the mag with an Italian one and changed the mag release and spring. They also changed out the firing pin, my gun did not like PPU FMJ ammo, very light primer strikes. Ruger basically said that I should use different ammo. PPU is the only stuff I had problems with, but it was also the only stuff I could find for a while.

I have used Speer Gold Dot 115 grain JHP and Federal Hydra-Shock 124 grain with no problems. I do not shoot any +P.

thank you

Thx for all the replies. I'll have a look. Can the critical defense be picked up online for a better deal than in the local stores? I'm sorta new to this. Even to point out which particular ones? example....

Those are reasonable prices. Surprising, since Cheaper Than Dirt's prices on .22 are insane. That's about the ballpark of a low end price at a brick and morter store. Put me down as another vote for Critical Defense. I don't own an LC9, but CD is what I keep in my Springfield.--Bob

FYI, gun was sent back to Ruger (it was brand new) and they replaced the ejector and repaired the barrel. Now the Hornady load as they should. Guess I bought the one that was made of Friday afternoon, or Monday morning by the guy who drank all the beer the prior Friday..... They paid for all shipping and maybe took 10 days total. PITA DM
