    Dale53,
    I ran some pin gauges thru my new 44Spec FlatTop (cataloged item) and my chambers measured .431.2 (which was loose), then I tried a .431.5 (which was tight) . Based on this info, I haven't slugged the bore, which size sizing die would be best; a 430 or a 431? I typically cast a BHN of between 12 to 15 and with this gun I plan on keeping my velocities around 1000fps or lower as I feel like it will do everything I need at the range I will be hunting.
    I have read and re-read articles on throats/chambers/bores but it still as clear as mud.
    I really enjoy reading your posts and I have learned a good bit from them, so I encourage you to continue the good work for us newbies.

    Thanks for any help you can offer.

    hillbilly knifemaker;
    As one hillbilly to another:D, my grips for the Ruger .44 Lipsey Special are Pachmayr grips intended for the Colt Single Action Army. They do not fit perfectly but fit plenty good enough. When you are installing them, it is helpful to push/pull them into place with the other hand while you tighten the screw. It was necessary to remove the grip pin from the Ruger (I just drove it out and put it in a small plastic zip lock with identifying information on the inside if needed later). I am EXTREMELY happy with my grips. I also found another pair for my 50th Anniversary .44 Magnum Flattop (same grip frame).

    Dale' I trying to confirm that you used Pachmayr Colt single action grips on your Lipsey special Ruger Blackhawk in 44 spec. caliber. This is the gun and grips you have the photo posted in the thread concerning Pachmayr Presentation grips. After buying both a set of Hogue and Pachmayr grips for my blackhawk, that did not work, I am a little leary of buying another set, but I do have a line on a set of Pachmayr grips for the colt single action that are new in the box.
    Thank You;
