Sorry to take so long to answer Bepe.....The Altamont GP100 rubber/wood grips also fit the Super Redhawk including the Alaskan. When you switch over you will need a grip locator pin for your gun to wear the rubber/wood. If your gun is NIB the old pin is to big to fit the opening. You'll either have to improvise or have the hole in the frame drilled a little bigger. You might also check out chigsgrips.com he hand finishes the panels and also has the rubber grips and pins. That is a set of his panels in my avatar. Like you I also didn't like the Hogue rubber and replaced all of mine with the rubber/wood. The Alaskan is one fun sidearm. You won't be disappointed if you get one. Happy shooting.

    41RED,
Hello. Just joined the Forum. Longtime Ruger revolver owner and gun enthusiast. Getting ready for retirement in a couple of years and I just ordered a SRH Alaskan .44 mag for a woods walking gun. I noticed your avatar has the Alaskan wearing the old style rubber grips with wood panels.

I had a SRH 9 1/2" back around 1990 that I bought new. Sadly sold it a few years back. It also had the old style grips and wood panels. I hate the new Hogue style rubber that comes standard on the Alaskan. I was perusing the web and noticed that Altamont sells the old style rubber/wood but only lists it for the GP100. Wanted to ask if you know this will fit the Alaskan frame stub. If not can you direct me to where you purchased your grips. Any help will be much appreciated.
    Regards Mike

Was looking on the web for info on my 41 and came across this site. Looked as if you were a knowledgeable person on the 41 ruger. I have a question, I have a redhawk 7 1/2 in barrel 41 mag and wondering if you would know if 44 mag factory grips will fit it?
    Thanks,
    Keith

Hello 41guy....I also like the 210 XTP in my 41s but it's a little to much for my budget. I've been using a lot of Berry's 210 plated recently and like them very much. One thing about the 41, they give the smallest groups of any of the 40s I shoot. Sorry it took me 2 days to answer.....I always forget to look at the notifications. Enjoy your 41s. I shoot the 215 lasercast over mild charges of unique but also load it pretty stiff with 2400 for my full power loads. The most accurate bullet. however, seems to be the 210 hornady XTP, a bit more expensive but worth it for the accuracyin my gun!

    Red,

I talked to Earl tonight and ordered a custom holster. Very reasonable like you said. And what a nice guy!! I'll display it in October when he finishes it. Just want to say thanks for the tip.

BTW, he told me that he's building you a new one for your Alaskan. Ok, I'm jealous, but my .44 is all I can handle right now. It's all my budget can handle right now as well.

Hello jrcorvette my holster was built by a one man shop out of MT. He specializes in the SP GP and Redhawk. He's very easy to do business with and very reasonable price wise. You can reach him at trailmaster@bresnan.net of 406-452-1495

Sorry it took me so long to answer. I just noticed the notification. The holster was made by a fellow out of MT. You can reach him at trailmaster@bresnan.net. Drop him an email and he can email you one of his catalogs. He's very easy to deal with and very reasonable on price. The belt came from an outfit on eBay by the name of Barsony714.
