| Need help on No. 1 trigger
Fellas, I don't want to get off on the wrong foot here, but neither do I want to waste time with the usual blowhards who are ALWAYS on every internet forum about firearms. Most of you know exactly what I mean. I don't have any patience for BS. But if you know accurate information, I will very GREATLY APPRECIATE what you have to say and treasure your advice and counsel.
I need a replacement trigger for my No. 1. If you know anything about the newer ones begining with receiver numbers 133, you know why.
I have contacted and talked to tecnicians at Brownell's, E. Authur Brown & Company, Clements, Timney, Canjar, Jewel, and Kipplinger. I talked to Frank Zika at Mould's, Inc. about his Moyer's replacement trigger. I talked to Larry Potterfield at Midway USA and everybody in between all of those. The only adjustable trigger I can find is the Kipplinger and as a hunter, I don't want it and if you are a hunter, you know why.
I just installed the Mould's speed hammer and heavy spring. I have just a single tiny creep in it after I have done all these old eyes are capable of seeing well enough to do. The trigger breaks at exactly 4 pounds 2 onces which is just about perfect on a cold weather hunting rifle and for sure, I don't want a trigger any less on my hunting rifles. I NEED a trigger with a sear engagement adjustment screw like the original No. 1 triggers had and like the Moyer's trigger.
This is a long way from my heart, so I'm not going to die if I have to live with the tiny creep, but if any of you know where I can find a trigger, you will make my day. And I HAVE already looked through the classified ads on this site and found nothing.
So if any of you fellas know where to find one, please direct me with a name, address, phone number, web site address or something similar that is definite and that I can actually use. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
As always, all the best to all of you.

Sorry to hear that your having problems.
Sounds like you have tried all the sources. The K trigger is the best of the bunch, not only because it can be used set or un-set but because it's to the best of my knowledge the only "linkless" trigger that has been made, being linkless means that it has direct contact with the sear, that means that once adjusted properly there will never be any take up, creep, or slop in the trigger mechanism like happens with linked triggers. And of course you can set it at any weight you like.
If you are dead set on having a trigger that has a sear engagement adjustment screw like the original # 1 triggers had the only source I know of would be the guys on the Ruger # 1 Group, I don't know where they got them but every year since 2005 they have had a Ruger # 1 Postal Shoot and sometimes they give out new old style original Ruger # 1 three screw adjustable triggers as awards, you may want to check with them an see if someone there would sell you one, other than that the only way that I know of how to get one would be to enter the shoot and win one.
BTW,
Just to keep everything correct and no BS will get spread about Ruger # 1's, the spring that is used with the speed hammer is lighter than the factory spring, not heaver.

Thank you sir for your kind and knowlegable reply and for correcting my impression that the speed hammer spring was heavier. I just assumed that it would be although it didn't seem to be as I installed it. I think now I'll put the orignal Ruger spring back in it because the lock time still needs improvement.
Correct me if I am wrong please. From what the techs have told me, the K trigger is adjustable only on the "set" position and not on the "normal or unset" position, which is where I will normally use it. Because of that information, I determined that it offered no advantage.
I went to the ASSRA forum and the consensus there is that the K trigger is not what I want. In fact, most of them who have tried it, don't like it and/or have had trouble with it. So I'm still looking for a trigger. Where can I find the Ruger No. 1 group? I thought that was where I am now. Heck, I don't even know where I am anymore. --> http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=89053

Try clementscustomguns.com, send them an email, their email addy is on the bottom of the first page on their website. They make a 3-screw trigger like the older #1's had. I have 3 so far, they were like $85.

Thank you for your reply, but I said I had already talked to them in my original post. They DO NOT MAKE them any more or I would already have one.
But now it doesn't matter any more because this afternoon I decided I would either fix it or ruin it. Since I have the original hammer to reinstall in case I ruined it, what the heck?
So after reducing the depth of the sear notch three times on an India stone and polishing the bearing surface with jewlers rouge and a Dremel tool and trying it each time, the creep finally went away. I cocked it and bumped the recoil pad hard several times and it stayed cocked while off safety, so its good to go. I lubed it with Gunslick graphite greese before final installation.
Now it breaks clean with no creep or over travel at 3 pounds 14 onces on my trigger scale and that is fine with me. Who needs a dang adjustable trigger anyway? I paid 55 bucks for that speed hammer. A Kepplenger trigger cost 250. I can screw up five speed hammers trying to get them right before I'll have as much money tied up as a Kepplenger trigger. So the heck with hard to find, expensive, someties they work and sometimes they don't, not available adjustable triggers.
Thanks to all of you boys here on the Ruger Forums. I'm outta here because hunting season is about to start.

Happy you fixed up your trigger the way you like it.
No sense in me commenting any further on the subject, you said you talked to the technicians and it seemed they couldn't help so no sense in me adding anything.
kckid101 gave you the link to the Ruger # 1 Group, it's a group of about 1700guys that have an interest in the Ruger # 1 for shooting, hunting, and some even collect them, good bunch of guys, so if you have a problem or have a question about a # 1 between the guys there, and the ones here, you should be able to get help.
Good Luck on your hunt.

First of all, it is KEPPLINGER. I would want one on my No. 1 and I am a hunter. I don't know why there would be a problem with one on a hunting rifle. Hannes Kepplinger is a hunter and he designed the trigger solely for hunting. He told me why he designed it that way as we walked from his home and shop, up into the mountains. Hannes hunts deer-like game. The set trigger was designed for the times that he gets a long shot at his game. The regular trigger is used in the typical close range scenarios that game that are similar to deer can be found in, when a heavier trigger pull would be more safe. It is the best trigger going for the No. 1, in my opinion, and that includes for hunting, as well.
