Id say for a shooter around 550 to 700 would be average. certain sought after ones a bit more.some really sought after alot more. i have a 1v in 243 i had to give 1150 for,but then a liberty 6mm exc.cond. got for 600. i got a 1 ah in 45 70 very good cond. i think it was 700. just be patience and the one you what will show up sooner or later. had to pay alittle more then i wanted for a 218 bee but was worth it has the box and all the goodies.
Best of luck on your quest. feel free to contact me i might have the 1 you want
thanks kevin

Frank V & Kevin;
Thank you gents for your assistance. I'll keep you gents posted on what happens.
Kevin, if I do get this rifle, the next one I would like to have is in 45-70. How did you find your rifles? I've been looking at Guns International & Cabelas, but I think some of those rifles are a bit over priced, based on the condition of the rifles.
Again, thanks!
Oscar

You are welcome.
I've shot the #1 in .45-70 & gone all the way up to the 400gr Speer at a chronographed 2200fps. It's not fun at that level, but you can go there. It's a dream to shoot down around 1700fps! Of course you can go anywhere in between. I've even played with 450gr casg GC bullets at 1200fps & that's really fun.
Good luck on your search, #1s can be addicting.

oscar the 25-06 is a great round have 2 or 3 of them in no 1's, if your deal dont work out maybe i have one that will?
As far as finding them it's just keep looking really,i have had good luck on another forum not to be named here but none the less a few come up now and then at good prices and as here great people. The 4 digit and pre prefixs it's a shooting match really.i was into winchester's real heavy but it gets expenvise very fast and then you may only have a 60% gun. kinda got into the #1 and #3 as a way too get good guns at way less output. As Frank said the 45-70 is a hoot to shoot i load mine with trailboss and load full loads for my buddy's what fun to watch them shoot. any way cabela's will always be high they buy low and sell high ,gunbroker sometimes just watch out for the inflated shipping cost,i can ship a rifle for about 15.00 so where there 45.00or 30.00 come in im not sure?
But im going to a gun show in middle of october going to take alot with me if you would like a list before let me know. Ruger#1 can be adiccting though so watch it! Last but not less on this post i really do believe they will go the way of the red label shotgun,to expensive to produce for the amount they sell, when the craze is polymer black guns. just my opioin. Big Bill isn't here no more. Right now if you have the money is a good time to buy because alot dont, what will happen after november is all up in the air. but i seen red labels jump a few hundred when people relized they wasn't catougloued any more. well the best in your quest till later.
Kevin

Kevin,
I got a reply from the guy who is selling the 25-06. The gun is probably in 85-90%, with some blue that had some rust and apparently someone tried to remove. I gave him an offer, and I'm currently waiting on his reply. We'll see. I've noticed that about Cabelas, and they don't want to bargain with you one bit. Oh well. I've checked Gun broker's as well, and still looking.
So, you have a couple of 25-06s? Awesome! I really don't know much about them, and their collectors value. This rifle has been my favorite for years, but for some strange reason or another, I have never acquired one. Here is my e-mail, shoot me an e-mail and please send me some pictures if possible of the one you are thinking about selling. PARA_45@bellsouth.net
Thank you much for the offer!
Oscar

I bought my #1 last April for $799.00 through Davidson's. I got an e-mail flyer of a special for that price in .30-06 or .270. I had my LGS order it and got it in 2 days.
It was brand new but the serial # indicated that it was made in 2010. It is a 1-V and the current catalogue dosen't list a .30-06 in a 1-V. I had wanted a #1 for over 30 years and was looking for one and was about to order a new one at list price less dealer discount when I got the e-mail flyer.
Grampie not Grumpie,
