| No 1 serial No. 113 prefix?
Hi All,
New here but have developed a desire for a .22 centrefire No1 that just won't go away.
Have seen a 22/250 with a 113 serial number prefix which doesn't match with any of the numbers on a chart I googled, any ideas on year of manufacture?
Cheers,
Waldyo

Are you certain it isn't a 131- prefix?

if it is a No. 1 and has a 113- prefix it is quite rare as that is a prefix they never used....

I haven't seen the rifle in the flesh (or wood/metal) but the serial number listed is definately 113-..........
It is thru a dealer/shop and I have sent an enquiry asking about its age but have no reply.
The rifle in question is a 22/250 and I really want a .223 anyway so it will sit there for a bit longer.
Cheers,
Waldyo

Greetings,
The 22-250 will reach out there farther than the 223. If you reload, that would be a good choice. If you do not reload, the 223 is a little cheaper to shoot. What ever you choose, save your brass for the mate that does reload, and he may give you some lessons, and allow you to use his equipment under his supervision.
For the country you are living in, a 6.5 Creedmoor is a much better varmint and medium game cartridge. The 303 British would also fill the bill in the hunting fields.

I have a #1V in 22-250 with a 15x Lyman Super target spot. I bought it used about 1988. With my hand loads it shoots about 1/2 inch center to center at 100 yards.
Pretty good for an untouched 2 piece stock.
i've used other 22-250 to kill many woodchucks and it is a 400 yard rifle if you learn to shoot it. I wouldn't trust a 223 much over 300.
