| New to me #1-B .270 Weatherby Mag.
Hey Folks, two weeks ago, I recieved an invitation to an estate sale being held today and scored what I think may be a pretty rare find. It's a #1B chambered for the .270 Weatherby Magnum. I have heard of them before but never actually seen one before today. It has a Circasion Walnut stock that has quite a beautiful grain. Upon closer examination I found the bore was so bright and shiney that it appears to have never been fired, there aren't even any "cycling" marks on the action. The wood is flawless, as is the blue, I couldn't find a single flaw anywhere on the gun to try to leverage the price. I did get what I believe is a decent deal at $700.00 for the gun, the original box & manual & 2 boxes of Weatherby brand cartridges. I'll be taking delivery of it on Tuesday. I think I'll be getting a set of dies for it after seeing the cost of factory ammo! This will be my 3rd #1 and certainly not the last! I'd like to get a nice piece of glass for it before I pick it up. Cabelas is having a sale so I think I'll head up there Monday and see what I can come up with for it. I was told by the owners widow that it was a "rare" model but I don't know that for sure, what I do know is that I like it and the chambering is very flat shooter and has some decent power behind it. I can't wait to shoot it!

I wouldn't really call it rare, but .270 Weatherbys aren't common. $700 for an anib is a good deal, add $100 in ammo and I'd call it a real good deal.

As I stated, I won't be taking delivery of it until Tuesday so I can't take a pic just yet. I just found out that I'll also be getting a Beretta semi-auto 12 guage LNIB from the same estate sale that another buyer backed out on. Got that one for only $175.00! This particular gentleman had over 150 long guns and only his wife to will them to.

Very nice gun and very nice deal. The 270 Weatherby mag is an unusual caliber but a good one.

Dozer, I was just at my gunsmith's Friday, checking on a trigger job that he is doing for me on a No. 1-B, and saw that someone had just dropped off another 1-B in .270 Weatherby for some trigger work, also. Though rare, they can be found. The price you paid is a real good price. You should see the prices people are asking for No. 1's here in NE PA. Good Shooting!

I don't think that 1B's in 270Wby are all that rare. A circassian stocked one is a special run for someone and that could make it "rare". A call to Ruger records might answer some questions.
