| #1 RSI: What did Ruger make?
A friend that bought his first Ruger #1 lately, a new #1-V in 223, asked me whether or not the RSI model was ever chambered in 45/70 or in 222 or 223 Remington. Well, I'm so new to the Ruger 1 scene I didn't have an answer. The new models come in 270, 30-06 and 7x57. I've also seen 243 Win versions on Gunbroker. Are there published records or those of you with good memories that have a list of the factory chamberings of RSI? Thanks!

No RSI's in 45/70, 222, or 223, .
Yes there is published records of the RSI's by caliber along with serial numbers in the Files section of the Ruger # 1 Group.

I do recall seeing an RSI in 243 in a gun shop, back in the 90s and I also recall that it had to be about the sweetest handling rifle I ever picked up. A 1 or a 3 is still on my list to buy before I die.

I'm still searching for other variations, but this about sums up what I've found to date....

| Wow!
Boomstick, that's an impressive collection. I remember seeing your post a few weeks back announcing your interest in RSIs in unusual configurations. Are some of these customs or are they all factory issue? |

They are all factory chambered and lettered. The only thing I've done to them is swap wood out on them for better, highly figured wood and swap one trigger out to a three screw.
I've got a No. 3 I picked up recently for a custom built RSI. I'm just stuck on a couple issues that I have yet to really research: caliber, metal finish, engraving (if any) and the right gun smith to do the work... ya know just about everything...lol...
I've sent messages to just about every site known to man about any more variations to the RSI's. As far as I can tell, other than a "one-off" build that Ruger made for an individual from an AO (action only) and two employee rifles that were both chambered in 30/06, this is about it.
The employee rifles are presentation rifles for years of service to employee's. They are engraved with their names and some other stuff about years of service or something like that. They are rather gaudy in the scheme of things (and have someone else's name on it too boot), but if I were to make this collection complete, I'll have to locate and probably pay more than I'd like to acquire one.
