#1 chambered in 25-06

Received a Ruger #1 chambered in 25-06 recently and was just wanting to know some fun facts that anyone would want to share, about this one in particular or the number 1 in general. Also I was wondering how many of this rifle were made, I couldn't find it chambered for 25-06 anywhere.

While Number 1s chambered in 25/06 are not hanging on every rack, they are not exactly rare either. That caliber was available in several configurations. I just sold one in a 1V, which is the heavy barrel varmint configuration

I think you have a great rifle there. I'm a great fan of the .30-06 case, currently using rifles chambered in both .30-06 and .270Winchester. I would love a #1 in .25-06 as a hunting rifle. It offers tremendous versatility combined with flat trajectories and low recoil. Yes, the currently popular 6.5mm's offer better BC's but within normal hunting ranges the .25cal gets it done. The best part is standard cup & core SP ammo is available for $16.00, premium tipped and bonded loads for $26.00, and mono-metal ammo like TSX/ GMX for $36.00. Those are very reasonable prices compared to many of today's newer high-performance calibers. It's affordable to shoot at the range, perfect for deer and pronghorn with regular ammo, and perfectly capable of taking big game when stoked with Tipped Triple Shock bullets. The #1 is a classy, good looking rifle. Congratulations!

Congrats!

Im a big fan of the 25-06, I bought an older M77 one a few years ago and love it, I too would like to find a No.1 in 25-06. they are out there

I can't relay too much on the official production numbers, but i believe they only offered them a few different times, so numbers are lower compared to the more popular calibers for sure.

hopefully you reload and can start working on a load for you rifle soon!

one of my favorite calibers from one of my favorite rifles!!

Well done! send us a pic when you can!

Congrats and I'm green with envy...I started with 25-06's when they were a true wildcat back in the late 50's...my favorite for speed goats (pronghorn) and mule deer...all in Colorado...I have had a couple of #1's over the years but never one in 25-06. Great loaders round..enjoy and consider the envy light glowing out here in California.

25-0 is a great caliber. I had a #1 V in that round and sold it several years ago. My bad. I, like some others, wish I had that one back.

The 25 off an 06 case is one heck of a round.

I wish you well with your new toy........
