1976 No. 1

I got this rifle the 17th of Jan in 7 mm Mag.
After reading in the Book by Mr. Clayton it was stated by him that all 1976 No. 1 were roll marked with "Made in the 200th year of American Liberty" on the barrel. Is this a "sent in stone fact"?
The reason for the question is that mine does not have this roll mark.

Ruger says mine was made in '76 too, and it doesn't have it either. I have talked to a number of people who have told me this also. I think sometimes receivers are stamped with serial numbers and then used a bit later?

Clayton also identified certain calibers, it was along the lines of rarity.

What is yours chambered in? If it is a common caliber I could see that.

22-250. Doesn't get much more common.

When I called Ruger with questions about my Mini 14, I was told the serial number lists on the web site show when the gun was shipped, not manufactured.
I was told my Mini #185-05xxx was manufactured in 1984 with a 1 in 10 twist and shipped in 1987.
Calling Ruger may be the only way to get definitive information.

Receivers aren't used sequentially. They're pulled out of a bin at random. Some non prefix were shipped as late as the mid-70's. The serial number reference guide to the manufacture dates are rule of thumb. You have to call to get the correct ship dates(if records weren't destroyed in a flood they had).
