I like the old fashioned barrel break-in regimens myself.

Same way that I still break in a new car engine carefully, then do an oil change after the first thousand miles. Dealership says it's not essential but it's what I do.

None of my cars burn oil and all of my rifles are sub-MOA. Coincidence?

I agree with FeralCatKillr, break in the barrel and change the oil.
It doesn't hurt to give your hard earned tools/toys a little help at the start and it gives you piece of mind.

I guess that I am old school too. I just picked up my new Ruger #1 VT in .243 and I broke in the barrel. One shot clean for 11 shots and then 3 shot groups. I shot 1.400 at 100 yds. off a wobbly bench, cold and windy. I moved the target to 50 yds. and shot a .280 The rifle is a Lipskey special with a 26" barrel and a 1-7.7 twist. I also used this method on my new Sako A7 .223 and have used it since the late 1960's and yes I have won IBS Benchrest matches.

Please send info on the other Ruger #1 in 6.5 Creedmore that you found.

Chuckhunter:

I knew where there were 3 more of the 1B 6.5's however they are all gone now. These guns were selling for MSRP ($879 I think) not blow up prices so I suspect folks picked them up and plan to sell them at jacked up prices.

Sorry I couldn't give you any good news.
