The No. 1 is going out of production

This is a discussion on The No. 1 is going out of production within the Ruger Single-Shot forums, part of the Rifle & Shotgun Forum category; I've got a number 3 in the 30-40Kr that I got about a year ago, in fact I've always wanted a No.1, Oh well someday....

My Roosevelt elk rifle is Ruger Number One, chambered in 9.3x74R. Works great for that or any medium/larger game.

And certainly don't tell him Ruger is making magazines that hold over ten rounds. He tried to sell us down the river on that one.

Now is when someone usually says "I can reload as fast as you can cycle a bolt".......well good for you, maybe YOU can, but most can't nor do they care to try.

Basically you have Number 1s because you love them or because you like the novelty of them. Either way is not reason enough for the model to continue. The last few years have just been some obscure calibers for collectors to add because they didn't have one in that caliber or configuration. That won't keep a model alive long either

If not for Lipsey's the rifle would be long gone and good for them for keeping it around as long as they have. But you know they see the writing on the wall as well
Other than the accuracy part (of which I have no experience) I completely agree with you. Frankly, I'm amazed the No 1 hung around this long.

Just received Cabela's 2016 holiday catalog in mail. They're putting Ruger No. 1's on sale for cyber week (online sales from Nov 27-Dec 3). $200 off reg price on $1199 with free shipping to nearest Cabela's location. Get them while you can if this is true.

I am lucky to have 2 a 7x57 from 76 and when I retired I was given 1 in 45-70. I have been a long time admirer of them. Both have killed whitetails and get used. When I quit hunting one will go to my daughter and one to my son.

I've wanted one in .308 for years...maybe I can convince the wife to let me get one for Christmas? Always thought one in .30-06 would be cool!

If you guys want one, Gun Broker has some smoking deals lately. Likely we'll see some 'cleanup runs' later I'd bet. Yes wife is mad. Lipseys now shows an AB in 338 Federal, and several models on sale. Looks promising in the short run, so get while you can.

One of the foremost experts on the Ruger Number One posted on another forum that he got a call from Ruger's president telling him that the Number One is NOT being discontinued.

Yes, 2 guys from 24hourcampfire said they heard from the top at Ruger that the Number 1 is not going away. They did not say who would market them if Lipsey does not.

A good "possible" explanation was given, some think Ruger was gearing up for a huge panic if Queen Hillary won and handgun and esp. AR's would be top priority but now they are discounting ARs and dumping lower receivers. They will need unique items to keep production going now, the #1 is a possible SMALL piece of that. Maybe in an indirect way Trump saved it hee, hee. Don't really care why, just hope the Number 1 lives.

I would provide the link but I think that is against the fire's rules but you can go there and to the single shot rifle forum.
