Single Six Lightweight 1957

Picked up a 1957 Single Six Lightweight, alloy cylinder. 4 5/8” bbl, original black grips. In good shape, light drag line on the cylinder, it is tight and functions perfectly. It has the original box and warranty card with the correct serial number on both, a Single Six brochure and a Lightweight brochure. It is converted, the original parts are with it along with the Ruger work order for the conversion dated 1984. I will post a pic this evening. Anyone have a ballpark idea of the value?

After the article In the American Rifleman about the Single Six Lightweight, I would say you have a pretty rare find. No prices were given in the article. The flat gates were first with the rounded gate later.. They started shipping around 1956.they originally sold for $63.25. They only sold till 1958. You have quite a find!

Nice find! For values there are book values and auction sites and appraisors and lots of uneducated opinions and guesses. My valuation would fall in the latter category. But I love the old guns and that's a real nice one - congratulations!

There is one listed on Gunbroker today. Price $1995.00 That one has stag grips. I would definenty get it appraised. There was another listed on Armslist that sold for $775.00. It had no box or papers.

Red Eagle News Exchange lists "collector condition" all-blue Lightweight with aluminum cylinder at $860 and the "black wreath" box at $905 and the "green wreath" box at $1525 . . . but all of that was before the Rifleman article.

All bets are off now. Superb find.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm still laughing,,,,,, First congratulations on your find.....

What I'm laughing about is that I OFTEN describe Rugers as "the only thing tougher than a Ruger is an anvil"!!!!
