I used to keep my Glock-30, .45 on the night stand, when i went to bed. But i've just traded it for a Ruger super blackhawk .44 mag. So now i'm going to have my Ruger Vaquero .45 in it's place.

I have a six shooter but mine is double action, a GP100. It is backed up by a five shooter an SP101.

The 45 LC has been doing the job for 140 years. It is a great caliber.

Nope. I have a 6YO in the house so I keep the 6 shooter and an XD40 in a pistol safe on my night table. Not real handy but still loaded and accessible.

i now have many choices but for about 6 years my only handgun was a 45 colt ruger blackhawk and I kept it for home defense. I felt very well protected.

I've always got a surprise under my bed. It's not a six shooter, more like a 17 shooter.

My 5 Shooter, A Charter Bulldog 44 Special with 4 rounds loaded and the hammer sitting on an empty chamber...old habits die hard. It sits in a holster on the night stand. When I get up it goes with me everywhere around the house. when I leave the house it stays with me on our property. I do not carry off-property under normal circumstances.

I have a life-time carry permit, but I prefer not to do that at this time. Special situations change that behavior now and then, but as a general rule I don't carry into town.

My 4" SP101 .357 is sitting in my nightstand drawer with a flashlight. Hopefully, I'll never have to use it, but it lets me sleep well at night.

My primary protector is my 4" barrel, 6 shot, GP100 .357 mag. that stands "nightwatch" at my house, prepared to stop any life endangering threat.

It's back-up as a secondary is a 7 1/2" barrel, 6 shot, .45 LC New Model Blackhawk...(I love the .45 caliber!).

Both are just a "strange noise" away from responding.

And I truly hope they never have too...
