blackhawk frames

Hello everyone, I am new to this sight and new to single action pistols. I am looking for a new gunsmithing project and need to know if the New Model Blackhawks use the same frame, reguardless of caliber? Thanks in advance.

With the exception of the flattops, yes, all the BH's utilize the same cylinder frames which is also the same as those used for the SBH's.

There are different variations though,
as the Super Blackhawks may have a squared rear trigger guard
and the Blackhawks with a lock.....
grip fitting is different

goocher, Salmoneye's reference for "grip frames" is very good, however it doesn't address "cylinder frames". You didn't specify which one you were concerned with and there are a few variations. Yes, for the most part, current production New Model Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks share the same exact cylinder frames, no matter what caliber. The exceptions are ... 357 Maximums (now discontinued) have the same height but are longer than conventional calibers. The new "mid-frame" Blackhawks (flat tops and Anniversary models) cylinder windows are 1/10 shorter in height and length than standard production BHs.

Maybe you can share your project plans and we'll be able to be more help.
