Super Blackhawk .44 Mag. TALO

The local gun store has a .44 Mag TALO stainless 3 1/2" barrel, un-fluted cylinder. What exactly is a TALO edition? Special build?
They want $650 for it.

WyoShooter, TALO is a group of firearms distributors that pool their resources and order special runs of guns from various manufacturers. When customers want these TALO specials, it forces the dealer to order from one of the TALO distributors. Seem if the order is large enough (500 or more) Ruger will make just about any gun they want. In your case, standard cataloged Super Blackhawks come in 4 5/8", 5 1/2", 7 1/2" and 10 1/2" barrels so the 3 1/2" barrel is a special run for TALO. Many TALO guns also have different grips, sights, cylinders, or finishes, making them quite unique.

Is this it? You can compare prices here: Gallery of Guns

Also, I just got an email from Lipsey's Guns who will be coming out with a Bisley model of the same.

My question is, is the 3 3/4 inch barrel a wise choice for 44 mag? It looks cool, but would the 4 5/8 be a better all around barrel length? I guess it depends on the purpose in mind.

Awe Man! I just ordered the TALO 3 3/4 inch version. Now I'm going to have to get the Lipsey's Guns Bisley model!

I've owned three .44 Mag Ruger's in the past. Two were 7-1/2" and the third was a 4-5/8" barrel. I want the TALO because I fell in love with the looks of it. My purpose is to carry it either on my hip or in a shoulder holster. I want something I can remove quickly from the holster while I'm hunting in the mountains of Western Wyoming. We have a lot of mean critters out here. If I want a longer barrel length specifically for shooting big game like my first two, I will buy another in 7-1/2" barrel.
For now I have a 16" barrel Winchester lever gun in .44 mag and thought the short barrel TALO would compliment it nicely.

Did the transfer with my FFL. I am very impressed with my hand-canon! I must now get the Bisley version! I might get the Bisley Hunter though and try out the Garrett loads.
