| Eyeing Single-Ten at LGS
Went in to one of the LGS's in my area looking to see if they had gotten in anything new as I am sort of on the lookout for a 22/45 with removable Cocobolo grips.
They had 2 Single Tens in the case. I didn't have time to play with them, but I am tempted. I have been thinking about another revolver from time to time.
Right now I have my old H&R Sportsman 9 shot .22 postpic110.jpg(picture included) and a Charter Arms .38 Undercover in my revolver collection.
The H&R is DA and I have never even shot a SA, but shoot the H&R in SA most of the time anyway. Looks like most guys with the Single Six like them and I am aware of the difference's.
Any advice??

I love my single ten, and it sees about twice as much range time as my single sixes. The extra four rounds just adds to the plinking fun. I didn't like the slim grips at first but they grew on me and now prefer them to the fatter grips. Accuracy is decent, but not as good as my Hunter, but works for pop cans at 15 yds. The trigger like most Single Sixes can be improved a bunch with a spring kit or poor boys trigger job. |

My Single Ten is more accurate than any of the half-dozen Single Sixes I have owned and fit and finish is better, too. Great 22 revolver.

I'll add another endorsement for the Single Ten. I have both the Six and the Ten and love them both. They're both very accurate and a hoot to shoot.
Go for it. You'll be happy with your decision.
When you get it home perform the "Poor Man's Trigger Job". I guarantee that will add noticeably to your shooting enjoyment and marksmanship skills with this sweet revolver. |

Well, I couldn't resist any longer. I went back to the LGS and got one of the Single Tens they had. Got it for $464.95 plus tax.
As soon as I got it home, I did the "poor man's trigger job" and that dropped the trigger pull from 4lbs 7oz to 2lbs 11oz. I have put about 100 rounds through it and my first impression is very positive. A lot of fun to shoot and I like the slow paced loading and unloading, not to mention, I don't have to worry about finicky ammo and FTE, FTfeed, etc. I had one Remington Golden bulk bullet that FTF on first strike, but fine on 2nd time around.
Thanks for the replies and comments - they helped me make my decision. And paochow, what is that thing in front of your gun that looks like a Hi-Tech nut cracker??

| That is what it is all about . Doesn't get any better. I don't have a single-ten (yet), but my single-six sees plenty of 'fun' shooting when I am at the range. You don't feel 'guilty' about sending 100s of lead pills down range. Hard put to use up $20 of .22 during a shooting session!

There's a used Single 10 down the road and the moment I held it I knew I was in trouble... I don't "need" it, I can't "afford" it, but can I really afford to NOT get it?!?
I was looking at getting a stainless Single Six for the 22 LR and Mag combo but I really like the Single Ten; both isn't an option so it's one or the other. I could go with a Smith 617 but man then I could have both a Single Six and Ten for the price those buggers go for nowadays...
Thoughts on the Six versus the Ten?
Thanks and Happy Shooting!

Like I said, my ST has proven to be the most accurate of any of the Singles i have owned, but that's no guarantee yours will do the same. Most folks have found the STs to be very accurate, though. It's also nice to be able to go ten rounds before having to reload.
It's also nice to have the option of shooting Mags out of a Single Six convertible, true, but even when I had Single Six convertibles, I only rarely shot the mags, anyway. For me, giving up the mag capability in the Single Ten was no big deal. Some folks, though, love shooting mags. How bad do you want that mag capability? I think that's the question to ask.

A few months back I bought a Single 10 and I really like it. However I did not care for the grips. A month later I picked up a 4.6" SBH. "Now for the rest of the story ". I like the full feeling of the grips on the SBH so I put them on the Single 10, WOW! So I calld Ruger and ordered 2 pair , 1 for my Single Six and the other for the Single 10. Since then I have replaced the Williams Fire Sights with normal Ruger sights. Now I reallllllyyyy like the gun.
