I have setups to shoot CAS/SASS in both duelest and traditional. Both rigs are the same leather company so it's not a problem to set up a "pair and a spare" rig. One SA on either side and a single crossdraw positioned just foward of the strong side gun. Throw the derringer in my suspender's holster for four.

Good point, Gal. I suppose it depends on the size of the gun and the dexterity of the shooter. SA's are, of course, made to shoot one handed and an important part of self defense training is to shoot with one hand as well as shooting one handed with the off hand, just in case the person is wounded in the other arm. I can see the well trained SA shooter being quite confortable, but I think most people who do not put 100 rounds a week or so down range might feel more comfortable with a DA in the appropriate size.
Just my thoughts.

My favorite Rifles are lever action. But if I knew trouble was comming I would get out an AR or F.A.L. Single actions are fine guns, and I would not feel at all helpless carrying A Blackhawk, I carry either A S&W 640 .357 or A 1911 .45 because I want every advantage if I ever need it.

I tend to disagree about the trouble.
If I knew trouble was coming (except at home) I'd do everything within my power to be somewhere else!

Having that option taken away, I think I'd hunt up a good Remington 870!

IMHO if there's too much trouble for me to handle with a lever, there's probably too much to handle with a AR.

My favorite rifles are also lever guns, but if i was pushed into a corner, I'd grab our Mossberg 500A Police model and load it up with buckshot. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit too well in my purse.

I like levers and pumps. Both are great for us southpaws. Bolts not so much.

If I'm gonna need more than 5 shots, then I guess my time is finally up.

Every time I come back to this thread I find something else interesting.

We agree on both the Colt SAA & Mernickle holsters. Are you using the PS6-SA? I have one for a 4-3/4" & one for a 5-1/2". They are great carry holsters & almost a level 2 retention.
I heartily endorse Mernickle leather.

A single action would be plenty in most situations and a full auto with a 100 round mag wouldn't be enough in others.

If you need to be perfectly protected at all times you'd better put an add in "Soldier of Fortune" and hire yourself a dozen ex sog operators because nothing you buy at the gun shop is going to do it.

Custer wasn't the sharpest tool in the drawer, he had the option of taking a couple of Gatlings on that trip and declined.

This is the first SA revolver I have ever carried for defense out in the "real world"........not counting the .357 Blackhawk I wear occasionally when I mow the lawn.

I have also carried my 1911A1, my AMT .380 Backup and an Ortgies .32 ACP I used to have.....so I agree with the "Combat SA" thing

Ever watch the CAS gunfighters they shoot one handed, two guns at the same time, one in each hand.
Some of them are pretty darn fast.
