Weaver Base 314 for Ruger Single Six

Have been waiting for a couple of months for Ruger to put the Single Six Hunter back in production and I have had several LGS looking for me with no success. I saw this Weaver base #314 for the Single Six so now I am thinking about a SS with a 9 1/2" barrel. Is anyone using this base that would give me some feedback?

Haven't used the Weaver, but I do have the Weigand no drill, no tap, Single Six on my Single Ten. Excellent scope base.

Will the Weaver 314 also work on Single Six Hunter? I want to move my optic back some, it looks clumsy mounted over the barrel like it is.

I don't know. I haven't seen one in the flesh, but after I made my post I thought about doing a search and came up with several posts about the Weaver 314 base. Lots of pictures, so you should be able to tell if it would fit. Good luck and let us know.

Now if you are unhappy with your Hunter.......................

P.S. Somebody posted that B Square makes a Ruger to Weaver Base for the Hunter. It looks like it would work better on the Hunter than the Weaver 314. A member named Radar posted a picture of his SS 9.5" bbl. with the 314 and scope mounted and it looks well balanced and cool.

Your LGS may hate me for this, lol.

Here are some Hunters NIB that are available:

Super Single Six w/7.5" bbl. Ruger Single Action Revolvers > Single Six Type for sale, gun classifieds or gun auction from Jays Guns. Buy or bid on this Super Single Six w/7.5" bbl. in the category Ruger Single Action Revolvers > Single Six Type on G

Ruger Single Six Hunter 22/22M 00662 New Arvada CO : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

Ruger Single Six Hunter Convertible 22 New 0662 : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

Ruger Single Six Convertible Hunter Model N.I.B. : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

Ruger Single Six,Hunter,22/22 magWith Scope : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

My hunter is growing on me. When I received it I was not happy with the accuracy of it so I sent it back to Ruger and they re-crowned it and did some cylinder work. It locks up very tight now and shoots better than me. I still think I would be happier with a stainless 6.5" barrelled version because of size and also ease of finding aftermarket goodies (holsters, scope mounts, etc). Still, I wouldn't want to be a rabbit at 25 yards if I was hungry, lol.

Glad to see Ruger did right for you on that SS Hunter, wisecane. When you posted at the accuracy you were getting from it, I knew it wasn't right.

Thanks for the links. The more that I look at Radar's 9.5" SS, the more I like it. That's a nice rig he has. I have a bandoleer type holster that I bought years ago when I had a scoped long barrel Super Black Hawk. So there's another reason to buy and scope a long barrel Single Six.
