Let us know how you like it. I am interested in how the 9MM shots from the 357 barrel. I have "heard" that there is a difference, but I doubt that I would experience it first hand.
Enjoy your new shooter and congrats!!

I have a nm 357/9 blackhawk and the 9 shoots acceptably but not as accurately as 357 but 9 is cheap I also use the 9 mm cylinder for a bunch of 9 mm smg only ammo 158 grain 1250 out of the blackhawk 61/2 inch. I is cheap and fun. i would never use it in a glock etc.

If you reload, I wonder if using .357 bullets in 9mm would fix the issue

I cast a 110 grain SWC and size it to .358 for use in 9MM in my convertible. It works well. Some 9MM cylinders are chambered just a little tight and may not accept a .358 bullet in a 9MM case. Mine does. I've been told that some were not as forgiving.

Now you can get pretty good accuracy from the 9mm, if you handload. I have found that .357/110gr HP's work well using hotter doses of Blue Dot, Unique, and W231, and so do hard cast 125/140gr bullets sized .358. I use data from 124, and 147 gr bullets and work up. If you have an auto 9mm, load the BH rounds too long to feed and/or chamber in your gun.
But I never found a single 9mm load that was more than basketball accurate at 15yds from my .357BH.

I have one that I inherited from Dad. It's a great gun that I really enjoy shooting. Most of the time I shoot .38 at the range, but occasionally I take the 9mm cylinder along just to change up a bit. But when I head to the woods, it's .357 time! I'll leave this one to my son...but no time soon I hope. Enjoy yours.

I would really like to find out if the 9mm is a problem or if people are just asking too much of a smaller cartrage. I have a 9mm rifle that I really like, but I know that it is only good in close.

A possible contributing factor to the perception of lower accuracy potential in the 9MM cylinder as used in a 357 Black Hawk is the distance the projectile must travel in free bore prior to engaging the rifling. The 9MM cylinder is the same length but the 9MM case is substantially shorter than a 38 and especially a 357. Just another consideration.
Look around, how many target guns do you find in bullseye competition chambered in 9X19MM? I've never seen one nor have I ever read of one.
