Well......
I sold off a Gen4 Glock26 and a S&W j-frame (340 M&P) in order to get mine!

I was so obsessed with the entire package of the Birdshead (barrel length, caliber, warning label on bottom of barrel, birdshead grip, blueing...) that I couldn't wait to get one!

Luckily for me, mine hits POA. In good time, you will be pleased that you got it....but boy, doesn't it suck to have a brand new gun that isn't right?!

I used to work at Sturm, Ruger (way back in 1988) and like most companies that sell hundreds of thousands of units per year, they have a mentality of "get it out the door" and then they just count on the fact that they will get back 1% for repair or rework....

They will make it right, you will eventually have the Birdshead just how you wanted it!

I've owned a lot of Ruger fixed sight vaqueros etc. and they ALL shot low and left. The new Vaquero I use in mounted shooting and daily carry I filed the front sight down and a little off the side to move it over. It was very little, but enough to make a difference. Then had the local jeweler polish it all back up like new.

All these suggestions are great. Or, you could do the cowboy thing and forget about the sights. Just spend a lot of time getting the feel of the gun at shorter then longer ranges.

Haven't heard anything for two weeks, so I called yesterday.
No one knew what the status was, so they sent a note to the tech(s) for them to call me.

Called again today to check on the status. No one knew what the status was, and they sent a note to the tech(s) for them to call me.

It seems that all of the new verquios are shooting left and low,I just took the front sight down 20 ths and opened the rear by .07 ths, , tried twisting the barrel, I have all the necessary tools to do it but it would not budge even when heated a lot.so got the file out. a lot faster than sending to ruger and getting it back in the same shape.

Thanks for all your time telling us about this rather unusual situation. I will appreciate finding out how or if Ruger was able to adjust the sights.

The replaced the barrel (for some reason).
It is supposedly at the range for test firing. (As of today - they finally called back)

Received a call today saying it was at the range for firing to test POA/POI. If it is OK they'll ship it back in a few days. (Same message as Aug 22).

Still no word so I called today and was told it was at the Range for testing POI vs POA.

I said that a couple of weeks was more than enough time to fire it, and wanted to know what is going on. The call taker sent an E-mail to the tech, and I am awaiting some sort of response.

I received it 17 July
Sent to Ruger 24 July
It is now 6 September

I've owned it 51 days.
I've had it in my possession 7 days.
Ruger has had it 44 days

This is getting way too old.

And they communicate very poorly. I'm always told that Ruger service is great, but for some reason, I am cursed with a bad gun, and bad service.

It is getting to the point where I wish I had never bought this Ruger and stayed with the (less fun) S&W........

Regrettably your only one of many customers Ruger is dealing with on firearms warranty and repair issues and as frustrating as it obviously is you can’t change it. I’ve sent handguns back to S&W and Colt for repair work in the past that were out of pocket for two or three weeks, so I do sympathize with what you’re going through. I am very interested in whether a replacement barrel is going to do the trick or whether they simply replace the gun with another. Fixed sight SAA or other like revolvers is very much a hit or miss proposition and I’ve owned several where the front sight was simply bent to the side to adjust for the windage. Of course these were very old handguns that had led interesting lives with past owners in the 1920’s and 30’s.

Day held hostage 46:

Ruger called - evidently it keeps failing the POI/POA test so the tech "did more work on it" and sent it back to the range for testing. If it passes, it should be shipped out Mon or Tues.......

The caller could not elaborate on what work is being done, but my curiosity has peaked. What could they be doing to it, I wonder.........

Obviously not a simple filing/bending of the front sight or canting the barrel.

Day 50: received E-mail from UPS. Should be shipping today, (2-day delivery).

Friday should be THE day. I hope they include a letter stating what work they did.........
