| grip frame question: old model vs new vaq
Hello All,
Don't even have my new Vaquero Birdshead revolver yet, and already asking a bunch of questions.
I like to keep extra parts on hand, for any firearm I own, but especially love to try different grips.
Are the "new" Vaquero grip frames (specifically, the birdshead) the same size as the old Vaq?
I see plenty of aftermarket birdshead grips for Vaquero......but not sure if the "New" Vaquero would accept these grips?
Worst comes to worse, I suppose I can send my grip frame to an aftermarket grip maker.....

Why would sending your grip frame to a grip maker be a bad thing?

As evidence of this,to order some black ruger grips for my .22 SS the Part number in its manual's parts list was exactly the same as for my .357 Vaquero.

but due to financial constraints..(putting myself through school), my only firearm is the Vaquero Birdshead (yeah....I sold off a j-frame and a Glock to finance it!) and so, would rather not part with my only firearm for six to eight weeks!

I was hoping that someone had some evidence!
Eagle grips told me that "if they don't fit, send them back for full refund", so I will probably order a set of their fake ivories, and perhaps their checkered rosewood.
Will post up pics as necessary!

Watch gunbroker or various forums for a used grip frame. I am always looking for DRAGOON, HUNTER or BISLEY grip frames and then sell the take off.
I've got an XR3-red steel grip frame off an Original Size VAQUERO with factory rosewood and a set of EAGLE GRIPS standard contour that I think are ULTRA IVORY...take offs from another purchase.
