Polished Hammers

Well, since I can't seem to leave things stock to begin with, what do you think about me providing clearence to the sides of my hammers, so they no longer contact the frames, and then polishing them up?

Just did my Single Six.

If it keeps the hammer from dragging it eliminates an area of wear. It will probably also give a little less jar when the hammer falls & may it a bit easier to hit with. It does look nice.

Hey thanks for the replies guys!

Yep I'm still getting a little scratch on one side, but nothing like before.

I may try to remove a little more metal on that side and see if that cures that problem, but it still looks better to me than it did before.

Glad you guys like it!

BRL, besides polishing it, have you considered adding shims?

Check out this link: Triggershims.com.

I think in conjunction to your polishing, you'll find you quit getting scratches.

Nope, never even thought of it.

Might have saved me the time of clearencing the upper sides of the hammer.

Thank you for the idea!
