Best is in the eye of the beholder.
I love my Bisley Vaquero in .45c.

The answer is "It depends"
The Vaquero and Black hawks are modern design single actions. So if your looking for the best 1873 type of revolver, the vaquero is not it, its a modern gun that looks like an 1873.
But if you want a solid, will shoot anything and take down Optimus Prime.... well ........

I love my Rugers dearly, but my Grandfather's 1903 Colt SAA in .45 Long Colt has my heart firmly by the aorta. He took a deer with it during the depression when they were nearly starving to death on their farm. When he used to talk about the smile on Grandma's face when he brought it home I had romantic visions of a time that I never knew. My Dad was six years old and helped Grandpa butcher the deer. He shot it three days before Christmas, and to them it marked the point when they slowly worked their way out of abject poverty. I love cleaning and oiling that old Colt. It still has all four clicks, and one of my favorite sounds in the world is cocking that gun, or giving the cylinder a spin. We drew straws for it, and I don't have any children. Obviously I am willing it to my eldest nephew as long as I leave this Earth before my considerably older Brother. He still gets it for a year or two at a time, because we're all gun people and he loves reloading and target shooting with it.
That gun couldn't mean more to me if it had belonged to Teddy Roosevelt. My Grandpa was a great man, and was dearly beloved by all of us.

| Best Single action
I just purchased a Ruger Bisley Flattop in 44 special. Supposed to be a copy of Elmer Keith's Nr 5 Bisley. Model is 5235, I absolutely love the gun. Nearly one hole six shots at about 10 yards. Will take this one to my grave....

I still get angry when watching pawn stars and someone brings in a gun that was thier ancestors and wants the quick buck. I have not grandchildren yet. If it looks like I will not later in life I plan to sell stuff when I no longer use it. I have known fellows that have thier grandfathers peacemaker or Purdy shotgun. I was extremely jealous.

Freedom Arms revolvers are great, they ought to be for what they cost. I ordered one for a guy at our gun club a while back. What I couldn't understand was why you have to pay extra for a "trigger job" on a gun that costs close to $2,000. It seems like for that price it shouldn't be an extra...
