9 y/o, NIB. Just beautiful. Almost too pretty to shoot. Anyway, I'm gonna shoot it as much as I like and not worry about it's pedigree of 50th anniv. My question, it is the blued, so I'm wondering would it help or hurt to put a coat of insulator wax on the gun as a rust preventor? My other pistol has a matte black finish so I did nothing to it.

Never heard of insulator wax. I'd just use a rub down with Rem-oil. it contains teflon polymers that will prevent rust, repel moisture, lube the moving parts and give it a nice shiney blue finish. Been using this for years on all my guns.

I never heard of insulator wax as well, but I have used Johnson paste wax on my 'in the woods' rifle barrels. I think I'd simply rub it down with some Rem oil, it's quick and easy.

Collinite's

is a wax that is used on high voltage power lines to prevent flashovers. Also very good for airplane and boat finishes. I use it on a black car and the finish is really impressive. I'm thinking that a coat of it will ease any contaminants from sticking to the finish of the gun and will certainly protect it.

no affiliation with the product, just an endline user.
