I just got one!
(The P220 magazine serves as a "speedloader" for carry. The Remora clipless IWB holster holds this gun perfectly throughout an active day.)
Here are some velocities that I was able to measure (5950'>sea level, 41°F, c. 15% humidity):
Winchester Ranger RA45TP 230-gr +P Talons: M 932.0 fps/ES 35.86/SD 12.12
(These were not the most accurate - I shot two six-round groups with them and neither was tight. Neither was troublingly bad however, and that's what I'm keeping in the gun for social work at the moment.)
Velocity 200-gr RNFP/ 5.5 gr Bullseye: M 845.0/ES 28.55/SD 11.78
Same bullet/ 7.2 gr Power Pistol: M 876.0/ES 28.70/SD 9.79
(Benched groups from these two bullets are visible in one of the pix above. Just like with the birdshead SAA that I used to have, this gun groups every bit as well off hand as it does from the bench. I shot 50 rounds each of these two loads, mostly off hand. Enjoyed accurate one-hand shooting with them as well, using both strong and weak hands.)
The gun seems very well put together and the grip feels really good as does the heft of the thing. The trigger is not bad, but it's nothing to write home about. I may have someone mess with it later, but weight is not the issue.

I love the look of them.
I always feel that the grip frame would be too small for me, although your photo seems to show otherwise.
The first photo makes it look like it is SS.
Enjoy.

A very nice-looking, SA revolver in .45acp...AWESOME! I've always like those revolvers in semi-auto calibers!
How managable is the recoil with that grip? It can't be any worse than my 2.25" SP101 in .357mag with a Badger Boot Grip!
Dang it...now I want one!

Thanks, all.
The recoil is quite moderate, even with the heavy-duty handloads that I didn't post about. Ruger did a superb job in shaping these birdshead grips - they shove the recoil straight back, none of the "moves up in your hand" stuff that SA-aficionados say that they like. With slight indentations milled into the sides, they're well shaped for manipulating the gun, both cocking and aiming it.

And I really like the speed loader idea. Now I know what to do with old mags! Sell 'em as speed loaders. (Erich, you haven't patented the idea, have you? )

Very nice was it a 45 acp only or did it at one point have a 45 colt cylinder. I have seen 45 colt only and convertible but never 45 acp only. Ejection is easy withthe short brass of the acp round.

That is one sharp lookin piece. Congrats on the purchase. I am hoping I can justify the funds for one before they go away. Always a big fan of the birdshead models.

I just bought the same gun in SS. Love it. Does yours say "Talo" anywhere on the gun or paper work etc.? I can't find it anywhere on mine but the LLC had Talo on the tag and it's just like yours. Just wondering.
