We're a bunch of dadblamed enabelers!
I don't even have one, (maybe one day) but I do see the practicality of one, & I'm a huge SA fan.
Good luck.

Right on, Waveform . . . and Mr. Steinborn as well!

I'll say one thing: I was reading Max Prasac's new Big Bore Revolvers just a little while ago (Frank, you might like it - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/144...ls_o00_s00_i01 ), and he talks about how a birdshead grip has no place on or near a revolver that is going to deliver real recoil. He's right, of course. The birdshead grip, though, is just perfect for my use with the .45 ACP out of this smokewagon - even heavy loads (255-grainers at 950+ fps). Oh, I like it a lot!

Yeah - it's all your fault! If there's a 12-step program for this I don't want to hear about it.....

Thanks Erich. That looks interesting. I am kind of like you, I don't think the .45acp or Colt in Colt level loads would generate enough recoil to trouble me with a Birdshead grip. If I need more power there is the .44Mag.

Waveform........ methinks you are sunk!!!

Gents - I just saw in the classifieds that Wheelyfun sold his birdshead Vaquero - what happened? He seemed pretty stoked about it. Just curious.

Just got off the phone with the dealer out in ND that has mine. We gotta do the whole mailing/shipping/transfer dance so I have to be patient........

I recall him telling me on another forum that it was his only handgun, and he just needed something else for his purposes at the moment.

I hate waiting for a new toy to arrive. I'm going "Ruger-only" in Miami in a few days, but it won't be the New Vaquero, alas.

Too bad his needs meant giving up the Vaquero. He didn't have it for very long.

Miami is on the wrong side of the state from me. Be careful over there. Glad to hear you will still be able to carry while in town.

I hate to see him have to sell it for something else.
I've looked back on this thread & the last time I can find he posted was July 23. Has anyone heard from him since?

I like Naples better, myself, Waveform. Frank, I can't recall when I last ran across him, but it was a little after that.

"The Eagle has landed..." Oh baby - it is sooooo sweet! I had to pry it away from the guy at the gun shop who handled the FFL transfer. He had never seen one before and was pretty impressed. I was trying so hard to be nonchalant "Oh yeah, it's pretty cool." But inside I'm doing cartwheels!

Got home to do the whole disassembly, reassembly, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, disassembly, polish (it is SS not blue), reassembly, etc. Hee, hee, hee! Can't wait to hit the range. Gonna take my 1911 too and have a 45ACP Day!
