I have an El Paso high slide on the way but here is my current holster from Ryan Grizzle (it's been on before.) | Is your Ryan Grizzle holster the CB ("Country Boy") or the HC ("High Country ") ? ? ? ?
I'm also a Birdshead "Nut": Ruger 357 4 5/8, Ruger 32Mag 4 5/8, 22/22Mag Convertible 3 3/4, Ruger 45 Colt 3 3/4, plus a Cimarron Uberti 45 Colt 3 1/2.

I'm loving that! That's a beautiful weapon. I had to look it up on Ruger's site. Special run only?

Those sure look like they'd be easy to carry.
Do they shoot as well as they look? There is nothing wrong with the .45ACP
Thanks for sharing.

At this time, they are doing only .45 Colt no more ACPs

Hey Frank!
A good friend from elementary/high school just PMd me on Facebook: He just bought one, too! Awesome! He didn't know that I had one - I'm thoroughly impressed with his ongoing good taste! |

Thanks Erich.
Boy you guys might get me to wanting another SA.
I really like the idea of the .45ACP & the shorter bbl, I am just not sure about the birdshead grip & my BIG hands. I'd probably be able to adapt though. I already know what a difference a round butt makes in CCW.
Gary Reeder offers the .45 Backpacker as a custom gun, but you can buy a Ruger New Vaquero for a lot less money & get close.
Thanks.
Frank.

I wish there were a way for you to run mine around with you for a few days, Frank, to carry it and take so shots with it and see how it works for you. The truth is, I have no idea how this gripframe would work in a big hand. You're a lot bigger man than I am, and this thing fits me pretty fine. I knew a big guy who had special stocks made for his N-frame so that it would fit his massive paw, and I almost couldn't hold the thing, let alone shoot it well. So I know that fit can make a difference.

Maybe one day I'll get to try one, or find one at a price I just can't refuse. The .45ACP with a 1911 magazine for reloads is a pretty nifty system I think & you'll never hear me running down the .45ACP.
Thanks.

My friend is a big guy: I'll see if I can talk him into putting up a pic of the gun in his hand.
Frank, I couldn't agree more on the .45 ACP. I think I actually enjoy loading the .45 AR better, but for ease of handloading, mellow shooting with good results, all with inexpensive, easy to pick up brass and low pressures . . . how can you beat the ACP? Man, I love the .45 ACP from a single-action revolver.

You guys are killin' me with this! I've been longing for a birdhead Vaquero as my first SA revolver (got a bunch of DA Rugers and S&W) but I promised myself I would be good and wait on any more new toys. But this thread has pushed me too far! Found a new SS birdshead Vaquero in .45ACP and couldn't resist it any more. Should have it in my grubby paws in a week or so.
Thanks - this thread got me looking for .45ACP instead of .45LC. I already keep a lot of .45ACP on hand to feed my SR1911 so it makes perfect sense. Glad I found one before they disappeared from remaining inventories. |

Hey, that's great, Waveform (I'm headed over your way later next week). Glad you found one - you're going to love the relaxation of feeding ACP jellybean rounds one at a time into the gate of your new wheelgun. And you're going to love how the holes in the paper are all right up close to one another, too. |
