Lipsey's Special .45 LC / .45 ACP Question

Does anyone know if Lipsey's has the New Model Blackhawk, 5.5 inch barrel, .45 LC/ .45 ACP in stainless steel? The website show they have them but...

I ordered one from local gunstore, and was told about 2 weeks they were out of stock, but should be in soon. They called me today and said it was in, I go by to pick it up, and it is the blued New Model Blackhawk, 5.5 inch barrel. They said they cannot call Lipsey's until Tuesday to figure out if they have the stainless steel in stock.

I prefer the stainless, but would not be unhappy with the blued version.

Another question - what is the difference between the Lipsey's version and the standard New Model Blackhawk? I know there are some pressure issues, but in terms of appearance, i.e. is the New Model Blackhawk larger?

I guess I am trying to make up my mind, if they don't have the stainless in 5.5 inch, should I tell them to return the Lipsey's, and get a standard New Model Blackhawk?

Thanks!

Only you can answer that! I like both of mine and lean more toward the blued version. Both are fine revolvers.

The standard NM BH will handle ROL if that is a 'need'/'want'. I, personally, don't need to go there, so the medium flattop is fine for how 'I' use it.

Here is some load data, and note the flattops are 'Tier 2' revolvers, just to give you some idea on possible loads :

Another difference between the two: The flat top is an all steel build. The grip is not aluminum. I feel that makes it balance better and because it is the smaller frame it is lighter. I used to have a new model but when I got the flat top I sold it to buy another flat top. Also, the flat tops cylinder indexes properly for unloading. I just feel that it is well built. Although, that could be all in my head!

Lipseys .45 45acp

The Lipsey's models are a little different. the grip frame takes the 200th anniversary or new vaquero grips. It also has a steel grip frame and a flat top receiver same as the .44 special. The receiver is a little shorter than the new Blackhawk.
