Are you asking how to get you barrel ported? Or are you asking how effective this porting is (recoil reduction) on a SBH?

The hotter the load the more it works.

No more asking the affect of the porting its a 4 5/8 ported barrel instead of the 7.5 that it left the factory as and ported at the front blade.

It works great on that barrel length. You won't notice any recoil reduction when compared to a non ported model but you will notice less muzzle jump.

I had a 5 1/2 inch that was ported. It does make a difference, but good Lord is it loud.

I have shot a friends S&W mod. 29 before & after he had it ported. The only thing I noticed was a tremendous increase in how loud it was.

Thats a great revolver. Magna-Ports "Predator" conversion is very nice. Your action should be smooth as heck. I had one a few years ago, sold it for more than I had in it. Are your cylinders numbered?

To each his own,but I find magna ported guns to be very unpleasant as far as muzzle blast and noise. With use,the recoil is manageable with any safe loads.(I dont shoot anything larger than 44 mag,so dont have any experience with 454s.,480s,500s., and those kind of calibers. be safe.

I have shot with a magna ported gun sbh 71/2 inch less muzzle climb so less percieved recoil. Yes it is louder but I hunt with the electronic earmuffs. It boost regular sounds but muffles gun report. I can hear better with them than my 2 hearing aids. Magna port is good if you get syourself set up for it.
