Blackhawk vs. Super BlackHawk

Here’s my question. Besides the caliber, what is the difference between a .44 Mag stainless Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 4 5/8 barrel and a stainless Blackhawk in .44 special with the same length barrel.

I was told the frames are the same, only the hammer, trigger and cylinders are different. True? Are the grip frames the same? I thought Super BH grips were larger.

Thanks

BTW I already have the 44 spl and have the SBH on the way !!

The frames ARE different. All Ruger .44Spec revolvers (BH or new Vaquero) are on the medium frame. All other NM BHs and the .44Mag SBHs are on the Large frame. Well there is another exception ..., a new .45 BH convertible from Lipseys which is also on the medium frame. BTW, the grip frame is different on the .44Spec than on the SBH.

Here is a little reading material on the .44Spec BH (now a factory offering from Ruger).

Thanks for clearing that up.

I already have the flattop 44 special in stainless as well as the blue Bisley flattop 44 special.

Also have both the flattop 357 & 44 anniversary models (unfired) plus convertibles in 45 and 357.

A 30 carbine is hiding in the safe as well next to the 357 Vaquero and the 41 magnum BH

Also have some single six guns too. A 32 mag and two 22/22mag convertibles, one of them is also an anniversary model.

As a matter of fact, today when I sealed the deal on the Super BH, I realized I had 13 Ruger single actions so I'd better hurry up and get another one since 13 is an unlucky number

Sounds like you are getting quite a collection! As you probably know the & 44mag anniversary is on the Large flattop frame. Need to dust it off and get some 'time' on it!!! Sounds like you need a little Bearcat to bump you off of 13 . Or a Ruger Old Army if you can find one.... Or a ...
