Cool 9mm now, 357/44 Bain & Davis

Well I got my cylinder back this week from Bain & Davis. I had my convertible blackhawk 9mm cylinder re-chambered to .357/44 B&D. Here are the 2 two cylinders with the rounds I can now shoot, .38, 357mag, 357/44

And here it is with the the cylinder in the gun,

Now to start working up loads. The 180 cast with gas check will be my favorite load. I hope. The 140gr FTX should be worth testing as well. Will start with some basic 158s for first comparison to mag loads. Will be spending a lot of chrony time.

I will post in reloading section once I start shooting it

Nice. I would be concerned about the wall thickness of the cylinder after machining tho, especially if you intend to run true 44 Mag rounds.

Yes they are still in San Gabriel California.

They have been doing this conversion since the mid 60's. And actually the 357 blackhawk cylinder is just slightly bigger in diameter than S&W N frame 44 mags.

Either way, I am not looking to load it to the max or reach 44 mag vel, just love playing with wildcats. If I really turns me on, I will have a Marlin 1894 44 mag re-barreled.

That is awesome. They are about an hour from my house. I might have to run over there and chat those boys up.

Very interesting and very cool.

There's no need for concern about the cylinder wall thickness. Its the same diameter cylinder used on the .45LC and .44 Mag blackhawks.

Very nice! I have used load data from this round as a starting point for .357 AMP since there is practically no data out there for it, they have similar case volumes and are both built off the same design of necking down a .44 Mag to .357. That's the best use I can see for the 9mm cylinder; I'm thinking I will be following your lead! Thanks for posting this.

357 - 44 b&d

Dear all 357 - 44 B&D users,

I am going to convert a TC Contender barrel from .357 Mag to 357 - 44 B&D; I just received the reamer to do this modification.
Does someone have loading data for the 357 - 44 B&D with 180gr and 200 gr bullets?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

357 - 44 b&d

Thanks for the reply

However, the Winchester Powders are not imported in Switzerland (as far as I know), I usually use 2400 or IMR 4227 for this type of caliber.

Best regards

That's very cool
Now to find another 9mm Cylinder so you'll have all three
Other than the fact that they are far a few between, and I really don't want to change my one and only, it would be cool to chamber my 357 Redhawk in 357/44B&D
