Blackhawk .45 LC / .45 ACP

i want one of these, one of the new Blackhawks with interchangeable cylinders for .45 LC and ,45 ACP.

http://www.ruger.com/products/newMod...tem=&sku=10463

only problem is, i don't think they actually exist. i don't seem to be able to see one in the real world. has anyone actually ever seen one, and are they for sale anywhere? or is this gun just a rumor like i used to think the Kimber GR2 was?

i'd love to own one.

I see them occasionally but not often. But then again I live in central IL where you don't really see much.

I bought one off Gunbroker new for $465. So far I have shot 200 .45 ACP’s and 300 .45 Colt thru it. Damn sweet gun. When you find one you will love it.

jonyrotten - they seem to be made in "runs". You won't see any for some time and then for a while you'll see them showing up with regularity until the run has been sold. Then it's back to waiting until you see them again. I had one years ago and traded it away and was sorry. When they started showing up again, I managed to purchase a couple of them in different barrel lengths and had little problem finding both a 4 5/8 and 5 1/2 inch. I even found a distributor run from Williams and got one with a 7 1/2 inch barrel. Be patient and keep your eyes and ears open and one of these days you'll find what you want. To me, the wait is worth it. Blackhawks, especially convertibles are my favorite handgun.

Recently there were some New Vaqueros offered as .45 convertibles from Davidson's (galleryofguns.com) but, of course, they are fixed sight and built on the smaller New Vaquero frame and are not as bull strong as the Blackhawks. I wouldn't mind getting one of them but...they are expensive compared to the Blackhawk convertible - probably 150-170 dollars more each - and actually weigh a tad more than the generic Blackhawk convertible due to the steel grip frame compared to the alloy grip-frame of the Blackhawk.

The 4 5/8 inch .45 BH convertible is my absolute favorite handgun but the 7 1/2 inch is, uhhh, pretty cool, too.

Mine is a SS Bisley .45 Colt/.45 ACP Convertible with 5" barrel (my preference in barrel length). I will confirm the practicality of the combination. I have been a ".44 man" my whole adult life. However, since a shooting buddy convinced me to go along with him and another friend to buy three new SS Bisley Convertibles this past year, I have learned a great deal about this excellent combination.

I discovered that all three (six cylinders) cylinder throats were undersized and quickly leaded with cast bullets. I borrowed a reamer set from another close friend and reamed all six cylinder throats to .4525". They (all six cylinders) now shoot extremely well with cast bullets and NO leading. They shoot loads from "mild to wild" with great efficiency. I am truly impressed.

Here's mine with the .45 ACP cylinder (the .45 Colt cylinder has no flutes and has a scene "roll engraved" in it:

They do exist. I have one that I bought last fall at a local dealer who has a factory Authorized Ruger sale every fall. Factory reps show up and they sell a ton of Rugers every year.

I have owned a Blackhawk .45LC/.45ACP for several years now; it has proven its worth in the field and have been very happy with it. Very accurate and fun to shoot, .45LC loaded with Double Tap 300gr. JHP is like shooting a poor man’s .454 Been a .44 Magnum person all my life, picked this Blackhawk convertible up because I didn’t have one and just wanted one… Glad I did…

Nope. Doesn't exist. If it did, I'd tell you that the .45 ACP rounds are as accurate as the .45 colt loads. I'd tell you that it is one of the better and most enjoyable shooting revolvers I've fired.

But, since they don't exist, I can't.

Keep looking you'll find one.

acrylictnk

I have a Bisley like Dale's and I have a blued 4 5/8's. Also have a stainless Blackhawk that the Bisley cylinder fits perfectly so for all intents all three are 45/45acp. Since I also load 45acp for 1911's convertable really makes sense.
Acrylictnk on rugerforum.com is where I got the last two,his prices were best I could find and he is a man of his word!!

blackhawk 45LC/45ACP

I've had mine for years and if I had to get rid of my guns that would be the last one to go for sure. The single six would be next to last. Hope you find a nice one soon. Flat

Well, obviously they do exist, that is certain. Question is, have you actually had your dealer check and find one? They'd be the ones to get a hold of their distributors and find one. If all else fails - there's GunBroker.
I forget what bbl length but Williams' had, maybe still does, have a 45 convertable exclusive to them. have your dealer give them a call.

They do exist.

Try these folks. I ordered one (5.5"bbl) last Friday and picked it up today at my FFL.
