I UN-converted the .41 magnum Blackhawk today

This is a discussion on I UN-converted the .41 magnum Blackhawk today within the Ruger Single Action forums, part of the Pistol & Revolver Forum category; It's interesting to read the pros and cons of the Old Model firing system. Both sides have valid points. But to me the original 3 ...

I UN-converted the .41 magnum Blackhawk today

It's interesting to read the pros and cons of the Old Model firing system. Both sides have valid points.

But to me the original 3 clicks of the old model Blackhawks and Single-Sixes are music to my ears and they just feel "solid".

I am very familiar with loading 5 rounds from my SASS days and have no problem with carrying 5 when I will be holstering the gun. At the range I load 6 and immediately fire same.

Anyway, during the UNconversion, which went more easily than I had imagined, I found that the gun was missing the PAWL PLUNGER!

The Pawl Plunger Spring was still inside the cylinder frame hole but was not sticking out as it should be if the plunger was in place. Using a small paper clip I was able to pull the spring out easily.

Turning the gun barrel-up vertically and tapping it on my bench did not produce a plunger falling out.

The rest of the unconversion process turned out just fine and everything seems to lock-up and fit great!!!

So I guess I'm outta business until MidwayUSA delivers the replacement parts in about a week.

BTW: For those that read my earlier reply on another thread about having contacted the seller who had told me that the gun was UNCONVERTED - he has agreed to reimburse me for the OM parts I bought. I am happy with that outcome. $110.00 back in my pocket!!

Missing parts are a bummer, so I started buying "Parts" a long while ago...there are a couple of those plastic fishing lure boxes in my gun bench...one is "OM Parts", the other is "NM Parts" just for occasions like the one you described.

There is another box or couple boxes "Ruger Grips"...all of the boxes are a mix of new and used parts...

So that's why they're so scarce . . . you have 'em all.

OM original parts for SBH to Un-convert

Do you have any of the original fire control parts for a SBH that has been converted? I have a chance to buy a SBH from 1961 with a 4 5/8" barrel (done at the factory). They don't seem to be easily found. Thanks.

The Pawl Plunger arrived yesterday and my .41 is now ready to hit the range!

In fact all of my Blackhawks, Single-Sixes and the NMV Birdshead .45 ACP will be making the trip.

Just me, my guns, and a whole lotta' ammo!!!
