41 Remington Mag-Ruger Blackhawk

Hello Everyone,

I'm brand new here....first post. I'm active on long range hunting and shooting sites as that is my passion. I have a question for you Ruger experts.

I have a 41 Remington Magnum Ruger Blackhawk (new model) with 6.5'" barrel. I Have shot about 75 rounds through it plinking and killed 2 WT bucks with it. Fun gun to shoot. Shoots Remington 210 gr soft points very well and performed excellent on both bucks taken (both right at 35 yds.). Gun is in very good condition...only flaw I can find is a tiny chip of the black finish on trigger guard. What would this gun be worth or better stated, what would be a fair asking price? I bought it brand new about 5 years ago and have original hard plastic box paperwork, lock etc. Just don't shoot it.....

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Crowe

My advice is to do your research, check prices on GunBroker, Blue Book, etc. and list it for sale on GunBroker, Guns America, Armslist or whatever local options you may have. You can also list it for sale in a classified ad here but you will need 10 posts before you have classified ad and PM privileges. This is to discourage people from joining the forum simply to sell a gun and then leave.

Good luck.

Check completed auctions on GunBroker to see what people were willing to pay (or not pay)

whatever you can get for it... 2 challenges 41 is expensive unless you reload, also gun prices are becoming a buyers market ,, Trump win (

Yeah, MSRP on a brand new one is $669 and they usually go for less than that over the counter. So . . . used? I'd guess no more than the $500 mentioned.

Welcome from New jersey. As mentioned look on gun broker and see prices sold for. I do most of my selling from armslist as they do not charge a fee for their service like gunbroker. But gun broker has a much larger number of items.

My gun with that description is a Flat Top. Aside from relative rarity, that means it can be worth a premium to those who want a gun that indexes on the loading gate. It's not just another NMBH.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, I did some looking around and it looks like they go for around 500-600 new...but cant find anyplace that has one in stock. Every site I have been to says out of stock no backorder...Did Ruger quit making them? I always wanted a 41...loved the performance of the gun and its something other than a 44! I just don't ever shoot it and it needs a new home. Listed it for sale on another long range hunting forum...probably not the best place! Gonna stick it up on gunbroker or another site maybe.

LGS here has them for right at $500 (503.00 today), that varies a bit from day to day for some reason. The .41 is still in production. As mentioned before, those who don't reload generally don't get into it because ammo is relatively expensive.

Personally, I love it. I have two and if I came across the right one I'd buy another one.

I paid close to $500 for one last week (6 1/2", 41 mag, New Blackhawk). I'm in an area where the few gun stores around only carry plastic guns. They wanted a premium for a "special" order ($100 premium). At the end of the day paying close to retail for a perfect used gun didn't bother me too much. That said I would not have paid more than $400 if i hadn't been in perfect condition. There was one other well used one with aftermarket grips for $350. It was just TOO used for the price. When you look at the prices on gun auction sites, consider the auction fee, FFL guys fee and shipping. Try to back out what the seller actually walked away with, not the selling price. Selling prices can fool you when you do the math to see what the seller actually put in his bank account.
