Two new to me .41 magnums.

Second post here so don't be to rough on me.

I have several .41 and ran across another today. Then a little later I ran across still another. Of course they both came home with me.

I am not a Ruger collector and don't know a lot about them. I just wanted a good shooter in .41. I ended up bringing home 2 New Model .41 Blackhawks that are quite different.

One is a 7 1/2" barrel on a steel Bisley frame. It is like a work of art. The steel frame lines are perfectly matched, has white grips and just feels good in my hands.

The other is a 6 1/2" barrel on a standard aluminum frame. The assembly is crude when compared to the Bisley.

I really like the added weight and feel of the Bisley also a much better finished gun. This one I can't find anything about and would like to learn more about it.

Serial prefix for the Bisley is 47 and the standard model is 48.

Is it possible the Bisley is something someone built rather than purchased finished? Any way to get info from Ruger with the SN?

Congrats on the new acquisitions, Blackhawks are are great shooting revolvers, I also have one in .41. Contact Ruger and they will give you what info that have on it. They have the best customer service in the business IMO. Try giving them a call for a quicker response than email. Enjoy them and shoot them often.

Use the Ruger ser# listed here to find the shipment year. Too many distributor exclusives to give exact data other thAn an email with info directly from Ruger.

Thanks for the link.
Puts the Bisley in 1985 and other in 2006. Bisley is older than it looks.

Are you referring to the grip frame only?

41 bisley is probably an early one as 357 and 41 were made only for a few years.

Nice score on the Bisley! I've got the 5.5" s/s Bisley & a Bisley SBH Hunter. The 7.5" Bisley is next on the list.

Yes, I read somewhere that they started making the Bisley in 1985 this ones serial number puts in the middle of 1985. So pretty early as far as a Bisley goes. I'm surprised how much better it's fit and finish is compared to the Blackhawk from 2006. Night and day difference.

Not sure how many post I have to make to post a picture but I can't post a pic yet.

Does the Bisley have much in the way of collector value as compared to the regular Blackhawk? Paid a little more for the Bisley but not much more.
