Sight Options for Single Six

I find the stock adjustable sights blocky. No offense to those who like them. The front sight blade is the width of three Bullseyes wide. I feel there is too much lining up to do - having to center and line everything up takes too much time and frankly I'm just not all that accurate with them.

I prefer the the thinner sights on my Mark 3 Standard.

I see there are Williams fire sight options, but visibility isn't the problem - no my eyesight is not perfect and I am on the wrong side of forty.

What other aftermarket, inexpensive options are out there? I see rough rider sights where I'm looking at $150 shipped plus fitment and filing.

Love the idea of a V notch rear blade and a brass bead front sight. But as far as I can see this will be my custom sourcing parts and fitting them myself and it sounds not cheap. I'm not that talented.

So is there a cheap set of thinner sights? Drop in replacement options? If not I cannot live with what's there. Just was curious what is out there that's affordable and good.

And I'm sure this question gets asked often here. Thanks.

For a skinnier front sight, the low buck option is to buy a spare front sight and take a file to it. Touch it up with cold blue and call it good.

Good call on filing a front sight for better picture. Might be my best option.

So this sight is for the Hunter model - but I guess it won't fit Single Six?

Unfortunately, I don't see a Skinner option. They make nice stuff.

The v-notch blade should fit a regular Single Six.
For a bead front sight, you can look at Marble's brand products. One of their front dovetail ramps should fit a SS and they offer different styles and heights of front sights.

Yep. I've done that myself.

I also thought about getting a rear sight blade blank and filing a thinner notch into it. I can't remember where I've seen those before, though.

Thanks guys. Good for thought here. Doesn't sound like there is some afforadable drop in replacement however. Which is fine. I can just blame my bad shooting in the sights then.

Since you mentioned a brass bead, you can do that with parts from Marbles.

I've put on a Marbles front ramp and bead on two different guns. One with a brass bead and one with a white bead. The brass bead looks fancier, but the white is easier for my eye to pick up.

Here's a link to another forum with someone that did the same thing to a Single Six. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/t...er-single-six/
