3 screw converted back?

My blackhawk, has a R. Clicked to safety, I don't see a transfer bar to block the firing pin. Should one rise up, and then drop when it goes to full cock? Is it visible

Of course I can take it apart. But it is shooting good, and don't want to today.

I have been told, they give you the parts back.

Just cock the hammer to full cock, with the gun cleared and empty, of course. If there is an ugly cut-out in the side of the hammer, its got the transfer bar.

Hammer is same as my other. No cut out. I realize buyer beware, but I find it BS, not to include the parts or tell the guy buying it. Granted it could have come from someone's dead father. But I tend to assume the worse of people.

Funny thing is I noted how much worse the action is in these converted models. Though trigger has been lightened, so I don't know what else was done. I'll have to put a trigger gauge on it.

I also realize buyer beware.

Yep, a "converted" hammer will have the "steps" in the front face and the cutout in the side . . . and the transfer bar would be plainly visible at full-cock. The original hammer is just flat on the front, and no side cutout.

Sad situation. A set of the proper original parts can easily go for $100. Unfortunately, they do seem to get "lost" after a conversion has been made. Ruger returns them but . . .

Just gotta know what to look for.

Yep! I bought a set of large frame old model parts for just that - 100 bucks.

Here's the set:

Yep the R stamp means it was converted at one time.

But yours has been converted back, otherwise you wouldn't be able to "click to safety". Look at the conversion hammer above, it doesn't have a safety notch, only a 1/2 cock loading notch.

I am complaining, that with an R on it, I was loading it with 6. I think if someone converted it back, they should tell you for safety reasons.

But I guess you could say, buyer beware.

I misunderstood, when you said you hadn't taken it apart...not sure how you saw the "R" ....but then again, not sure how you mistake a "Converted" from "UnConverted"...as the Hammers are completely different.

No disrespect intended.
